I think Mercedes are offering 2 years free servicing at the moment on all new cars, so a 2 year deal will be all in.

Was offered a C250cdi sport edition 125 estate for £253 a month, seriously tempted to get it and sell my E320cdi estate, it is fucking cheap motoring.

Plus the guys with the new 7G + gearbox are all seeing between 44-60mpg depending on what they are doing.

Agreed, never contract hire off Mercedes direct, they are sharks for this.

I can vouch for that.
They expect a car to be in showroom condition, despite having leased it for a period of 3 years/100,000 miles.

Budget for a £1k return fee.....

More often than not those "all-in" service plans are on retail cars only, and not applicable to contract hire cars....

Never pay the money they say you owe.
They will try it on.
Say that you consider it more than fair wear and tear and you will wait to hear from their solicitors, they won't persue.

Make sure you take decent pics of the car when it is returned to back up this.

Gizze

Can you send me the contact details for that Merc offer. I'd like to get a formal quote with XS mileage charges as well as quote for higher than 10k.

I can't PM you as your inbox is full!!!

At the moment Mercedes are offering cracking deals and with the Edition 125 everything you need is standard. The interior is much nicer than the current 3 series.

I would test drive the car first just to check you like it but to be honest my Merc is very comfortable and the 7G+ auto is smooth.

This would seem to disagree however depends on who the finance company is I suppose.

In any case, for the sake of a few hundred pounds before handing it back, you can avoid these sorts of costs

Test drove the C250CDi Estate Sport. Left me cold compared to the 330d. Just seemed like a coarse 4 cyl car. Ride not a lot better than mine (although it was a little better). Not as quick, admittedly nice inside, but not lots better.

I DID love the interior of a couple of E Class cars in leather though. They seemed massively superior to the C Class. I think there were some cheap deals on E Class as well........

Comparing a 4 cylinder C250 to a 6 cylinder 330D seems an odd comparison to make. 4 cylinders will never be as smooth as 6 surely.

As for the E Class, the price difference between the C Class and E Class is tiny making the E Class even better value for money.

I did consider the E over the C but I just don't need anything that big.

I thought that they were comparable in terms of cost, I may not be correct in that though.

I also made the comparison because I was thinking of replacing my 330d with the C250 ( not being able to afford the C350), but preferred my older car to the Merc.

Fair enough.

I did actually have a C250 CDI for the weekend a few weeks ago on an extended test drive.

Whilst there was no doubt it was fairly quick, it did feel as rough as a badgers @rse and like you , having owned a 6 cylinder diesel before I did not like it.

I suppose if you were moving from a 320 etc you would not have the same experience.

My friend has a E350CDI coupe which is very nice indeed. I like the quality of the interior in particular. The build quality seems to be back up to Merc's of old (ie E190s). I like the styling of the new E and new C class, though I did think it suited the more mature gentleman. Certainly, Mercedes have stolen a march on BMW and hopefully there'll be a response with the needed improvement in interior quality in particular and hopefully panel quality too. Too many Mercedes during the late 90's I thought were pretty shoddily built.

For the same money, I could have had a much newer E350CDI than the 08 plate 335d I bought. I guess I have been put off by our local Merc Dealership having a bad reputation also amongst people I've spoken to. Driving dynamics I don't reckon are quite up to BMW levels, although the Mercs do have a comfortable yet sporty ride. Just my opinion!

+1 My mk6 Golf has a better built interior than my e92, no rattles at all.

I test drove a c220cdi coupe recently and it was just way too slow and mushy compared to a 320d. Nice interior though so long as you spec leather as those half leather/artico cloth seats are awful!
