Mercedes C220 CDI Coupe - Should I?

Hi Guys,

I need opinions! I've been offered a C220 CDI Coupe Edition 125 AMG Sport Auto on what I think is a good deal!

The Edition 125 includes Command, Xenon etc so there's nothing else I would need. They are stock cars but there's a few different colour options.

Business Contract Hire - 6+23 @ £269 per month on 10 000 miles!

I've never driven one, and I don't really need a car for the next few months, but it seems an incredible price for a £36k car!!

Cheers for your thoughts

Do it....it's a good looking car..the new C-class coupe And the interior is more refined and luxurious than our BMW. BMW needs to up their game...the interior is a bit dated IMHO and could do without all the rattling and squeaking noise

OP isn't talking about a Jetta, or an E92.. What's your point in bringing them up?
To answer OP's question: you should definitely test drive it first. Will it be a second car?

I collect my C350CDI 125 Edition on Saturday.

Right now they offer spectacular value for money and really do make the BMW feel dated and over priced.

The 125s are interesting as they are the result of a shortage of the CD players coming out of Japan. Rather than have huge waiting lists, MB have taken the Sport (which was already big on kit with Xenons etc as standard) and have included the full Navigation and Comand Online setup.

As a result there are very few options left to choose.

The drive is a lot more fluid than the BMW but not in a bad way.

Is it a better drivers car than the BMW? Probably not but it's a much nicer place to be and a very capable car.

I am sure when the new 3 comes out next year, things will be different but right now especially with the deals that are out there, it's hard to buy a 3 over a C

I'd rather have a 3 series over a C class any day of the week.
Mercs are boring as hell.

These c coupes are interesting. Any links to good pics? (mercedes.com doesn't count!)

Looks like the 250 is just a chipped 220 - is the an easy remap? The co2 and mpg on the 350 are impressive (all diesels)

No that's business contract hire so VAT is on top... Still a cheap car though! RFL included for the duration too

It's on an email and not on the internet. If you PM an email I'll forward it to you!

It does seem like the spec I always choose! A lot of my driving is motorway, and as such, I used to find the 3 a bit noisy!

Problem is I don't need a car YET but will do in about 4 months... I want something like this but I doubt the deal will be still around then!

Seen a few on the road and it turns my head in an elegant way

Is that what you pay monthly which covers service, insurance for that duration and hand it back at the end

Sort of, except this one doesn't include maintenance (service, tyres etc), but essentially at the end of the term someone comes and picks it up job done.

As long as there isn't a little dent on it.

I dealt with Mercedes after a hand back, not pleasant.

The 350CDI is a great engine, but the gearbox attached to it is shockingly sluggish.
I've just got out of an E350CDI. Despite no less than 4 gearbox software updates, the car was sometimes just plain scary to join fast moving traffic. They had finally fixed it in Sport mode, but not in Comfort.

Would be very interesting to know if the C350CDI exhibits the same characteristics.

It must be one of the ugliest around.
The big Merc star just makes it look 'cheap', like the blonds you see on the High Street when the pubs/clubs turnout.

I think it is Skyfleet that are doing these for £269 fully maintained

"A specially reduced price for a limited time only, and full maintenance is included!

Built on the base of the capable C-Class Saloon, it's a superbly refined Coupe (WhatCar describe it more as a Grand Tourer), it features a fantastic quality interior and the usual top notch safety features you've come to expect from Mercedes-Benz.
Road fund licence included for the duration of the contract. Full maintenance includes all servicing and tyres for the duration of the contract- call for full details.
CO2 emissions of only 139g/KM, and miles per gallon (average) of 53.3

Business contract hire available from just £269.99+VAT per month!"
