Mega's new car revealed and stuff!
Right.
The agenda was 8k budget, petrol, RWD, FAST. 25th birthday prompted the decision as I could finally insure something. In fact, I put the deposit for this car down on my birthday. So to those who didn't already work it out: It's a baby... Datsun! I can blame Rog slightly for making me even consider one. But anyway. Interrim metal as per one of my many bullshit teaser topics ended up being the order of the day. I've taken a deposit on the BM which will go in 3 weeks or so (once the sounds are out) and taken this in the meanwhile. First impressions of this car are positive, it's a great feeling chassis, proper solid steering. A real drivers car unlike all the electronic assist rubbish you get even on BMWs if you buy a brand new one now. The worst point of it is the clutch biting point: I'll be adjusting that down on Thurs or at the weekend. It's very high and is fully engaged with about 80% of the travel left. I've checked the nut and it's in it's normal position: This is just how these clutches are! So I'll just adjust the pedal so it's nearer to the foot stop. I'm glad the nut isn't all the way up as that'd be sign of a shagged clutch. Fingers crossed on that one The best point of it is spinning up in third with ESP off when overtaking! Eeeeeek! This car might not be biblically fast but it is massively, massively quicker than the E90 was. And at last I've got 6 cyliders like most of the rest of you lot, even if they are arranged in a funny V shape In fact. I take it back. The best point of the car is the exhaust note. Oh it's doing things to me ... So.. Literally only a couple of pics as I had the last 10mins of light before the sun dropped. Last pic with the fleet pic was very difficult to get to come out at all due to the light but I just thought it was funny! I do really need to sell one of these cars Let me know what you think anyway. For me: For 8 grand on a 50k mileage car with this much road presence I've done well. But anyways, she's only temporary ... And lastly... Gulp!! More of this to come!!

Looks absolutely stunning. I was within 10 minutes of buying a 370z when I got my offer for the new 320d. I keep wondering if I have done the right thing as I love those brutal Datsuns.

You've done it now, the Zed bug will get you, who knows where it'll end .
Looks really nice - feel like you've just become part of my family .

I think so. 335d is another car I "have" to own before I become in any way sensible, so that'll definitely be next on the list now

Don't let the modding bug gets you..it's very addictive! There is so much you could do to the car I see you have joined the 350Z uk fold Missed my 350Z..loved the exhaust note and the noise when you turn on the ignition. It's a very capable car but be careful in the winter esp when you are going round the corners..the back end has a tendency to "fishtail" going sideways

Thing is. Guy in the dealership SWORE it was standard. So now I'm doubting what you and others online have said.
rog, are you sure about the exhaust? even on the pre 06 ones? Hmmm Sounds nice though! And if it's standard then I'm very very impressed..

Compare yours to mine - the coupe was an 05 plate - the roadster on an 08 plate...
Definately not standard, your tips have a 'square' cut off whereas the standard are 'tapered'.

I'd imagine you're right and the dealer wrong. No obvious markings on them though. How would one tell?

Shape being the obvious telltale sign but not sure how to tell what it is. I'm sure folk on 350Zuk will be able to advise; both my 350Z's were standard.
My Stillen exhaust on my 370Z has Stillen etched into both tip on the top - very difficult to see it though - I'd clean up the tips and have a good look for anything obvious - I'd guess more 'premium' exhausts will have their name on somewhere however it's also quite likely it may have been made bespoke as this is usually cheaper; no idea whether these would show markings. Like this...

Mega..take a picture of the exhaust tip and back box and put it on the 350Z uk forum..they are a very knowledgeable bunch..there's a wealth of information on just about everything on the forum Like everyone has said..it's a real headturner..had a lot more attention in the Zed than the E92 but i'm a lot happier in my E92.
