Got into an accident...... got question!

Hey guys,

Thus anyone know how to calculate for the diminishing value of our car once we get into an accident? I just got rear ended, nothing serious but I know it will affect my car's value, I also got a call from AAA that I am entitled to a diminishing value (Insurance need to pay me for the lost of value of my car). now I'm just wondering if anyone know how to calculate it so I will be able to know if the insurance is not ripping me off!

BTW I drive my car hard but it's not my fault, a lady was swerving and miscalculated her distance from my car.

Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that...

Was the damage just cosmetic? How bad was it?

I got paid 10% of my car value when I had my 350z for a minor fender hit. Driver fender, front bumper and just needed replacing and wheel needed to be touched up from scratches. I was happy enough with it that I took it but I have no idea how they calculate how much you get. I would want more if more damage was done such or if any engine parts had to be replaced.

I'm also very curious about this and how to go about proving it.

Needed new frame rails. And they still wouldn't just total it out.

Going on 2 months + without my car

I submitted some info to this site.

i just got a check from insurance compy and it was about 10% of the repairs, not 10% of car value... it was like $340... needless to say i was upset because my car will probably decrease in value more than $340 bucks... tried sending documentation and justification to ins compy and also called them but so far can't get them to budge. I thought i would get more like $1500-$2000. way off.

We're in the same boat, man! I needed a new left front frame rail and its been 6 weeks and counting- -still don't have my car back yet.. I recieved a check for $350 diminished value (to contrast, the damage ended up being about $12,500- -once they discovered the frame issue).
