I'm a huge fan of the Alufelgen SF-71s, but there are a lot of choices out there. I've also had the LM reps, and they look awesome too. Really depends on what you like the best I think

more import question is...how much are you looking to spend...b/c that will narrow your choices down. And if you are looking for something unique DO NOT get LM Reps

High performance forged wheels are what you want if you're serious about performance and doing any type of auto-x/tracking. The perfect middle point is an OEM wheel; they're forged and specifically designed for your car! Not as light as something like a Morr, but still a good middle ground. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for, and you're buying wheels for a BMW, not a Hyundai. Wheels and Tires play the biggest role in performance and safety combined, so it's worth the extra $$. |

There are different qualities of cast wheels and this is where so many people get lost in translation.
Like anything, there's a minimum cost to manufacture items. So as bplant13 stated above, you get what you pay for. In cast wheels you have gravity cast, low-pressure cast and flow formed cast. Gravity cast is the cheapest and lowest quality. A set of 19's will always be under $1000. Most of the wheels on ebay are gravity cast, especially the ones that are $400-$800/set of 19's. Most replica wheels are gravity cast. Gravity cast wheels are the heaviest of the three casting methods. Low-pressure cast wheels are pretty much the norm right now. Very good quality, stronger and lighter than gravity cast. A set of 19's usually runs $1000-$1400 a set. Most of the main brands use this casting method. Flow-formed cast wheels are the highest quality of casting of the three. Excellent quality, lighter and stronger than low-pressure cast wheels. A set of 19's usually run $1500+. Next step after flow formed would be a forged wheel. Just a little food for thought. Some manufacturers use different names for casting methods, don't get caught in that trap. A "Spun Forged" wheel is not a Forged wheel. It is extremely rare you find a set of brand new forged wheels for under $3000., let alone under $1500. Do your research on wheels! Before getting into this business, I was like everyone else on here, call a place and the guy tells you what you want to hear just to get the sale. Then I got into the business and saw the reality of it. We're a company built up of enthusiasts. What separates us from the others is our knowledge of our products and our honest opinions on our customers requests. There may be times that we won't have the cheapest price, it's understandable, but we'll share our knowledge and ideas/opinions for free! |

Thank you for all the valuable information on the different type of methods wheels are made. Woud you guys consider forgestar a good wheel? On their site, it stated the wheels are rotary forged. What does this term means?
Thanks

Forgestar F14's in the extreme concave are sick.
If you want a BBK you might have issues. The rears are easy you won't get the extreme concave in the front unless you go with an extreme fitment. I have F14's in a normal et35 setup with 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. Love the wheels. |
