Just curious Mo- how is the drivability of the car after the tune? I am picturing myself just spinning in placing jerking around everywhere -that isn't the case right?

No way!! You won't notice a difference in ANYTHING except when you put your foot on the gas. WOOHOOOO!! Idle fluctuated a bit for the first 500 miles or so on start up (for maybe 5 seconds) since the computer was learning the tune. That happened to me, but most others said they didn't even get that. Either way, its normal if it does happen.

Haha- thanks brometheus! Will report back
Tomorrow can't come soon enough! Would you even bother with the black diamond?
The only sad thing is I'll lose my burble pop from my PPK ...but I'm sure I'll forget all about that once I put my foot on the gas

After much drama and 6 weeks of waiting, I had the stage 2 PPK installed on my non-sport 335.
I just bought a 2011 e92 335i xdrive non-sport today and I'm fixated on Cobb (just hoping not to wait too long) but just curious...since you have a non-sport, I assume there's no oil cooler, so with the stage 2 ppk, do you know how much awhp you'll achieve and do you have an xdrive 335, and how much did you pay for the stage 2 if you don't mind me asking?

There was no oil cooler. They had to install it along with the some other doodads to bring the car up to spec for the stage 2 PPK.

The stage 2 was $1750 for parts and labor, but there was another grand and a half added on top of that for the other parts and labor. I also had the performance suspension put in at the same time and was told some additional work would have to be done to bring it up to sport spec.

Now all I really want to do is get a performance steering wheel with paddle shifters and a driver's side sports seat.

Oh, and some decent rims and tires too.

I have had the Dinan Stage II Tune since it came out. They have done an amazing job as usual. I have tried other tunes and they all have their unique features. What I like about the Dinan tune is that it enhances the day today drivability as well and being able to respond on demand.

Adding a great exhaust really makes it a fun car to drive and listen too. I get all kinds of comments on my OEM Performance Exhaust as well.

I have driven the \n55 with a few other tunes from guys at the track. The gains from the Dinan tune are very noticable. If you check for a local BMW dealership that is a Dinan Centre, I am sure you can do a test run with your car versus a similiar Dinan tuned one.

The dealership I had my done at did exactly this for me and it was very noticeable!

Noticeable, definitely. It can feel rather stock like until you drive a stock n55 again.

ooooooo sounds enticing to me. I figured that the dinan center at my dealership would do that. Definitely taking a trip to the deal this weekend!!

There arent not many modifications you can do for under 2k that can increase torque by 101. The torque gains alone make the car a rocket. Trust me. After the dealer cleaned the car and loaded Dinan's stage two, the saleman was dying to drive it and see the difference, and he was blown away. The car just plain pulls so much harder now. I dont have hard numbers to prove it, but there is no doubt a huge difference.
The technician who installed the software promised me that the upgrade would make me forget I couldnt afford a M3, and so far he was right.

I will call Dinan on Monday and verify the claim that I need to reprogram it...but nothing on the web site says anything about that.

I came over from the domestic pony cars, and there isnt any single mod at $1700 that can net you that much gain for them either.

If you can afford it, do it! You wont regret it.
Then you have never heard of an 03-04 cobra. Catback $500, smaller blower pulley with belt $150, SCT Tuner and a dyno tune $700 = $1350. My car went from 364 rwhp to 458rwhp and 370 ftlb torque to 478 ftlb of torque all to the wheels obviously. So yes, yes there are domestic cars that will do it. And with this setup my car ran 11.8's all day long @118mph.

So long story short I disagree with your post.....And for $5,000 you can pick up a Kenne Bell blower and all supporting mods and run 10's and rape evertything on the street pretty much. But what do I know about cobras....

Stage 3 specs released....373hp and 408 ftlb. Not bad for just a tune. This is crank, but still, not bad.

Thats roughly 300whp and 330wtq..

There is a very long thread on Dinan in the 1 series forum. After reviewing and comparing dyno charts for both Dinan and BMW's PPK 1, I came away unconvinced that Dinan was any better. The BMW PPK is no fuss no muss. The warranty is not affected and extended warranties are available. It is $1,000 less than Dinan. I am very happy with the PPK1.

If you want the maximum power per dollar, get a JB4 and hope for the best as far as the warranty goes. I have had some communications with forum members who get great results from the JB4 but further mods (down pipe, FMIC, exhaust, intake) caused problems. That is not to say that these items do not work. It appears there is more involved than just bolting things on.

You make a good point. I am not a fan of many of the tunes out there for reasons previously stated. I will say that I had the opportunity to do a direct comparison between a car tuned with the PPK versus the same spec'd car with Dinan Stage II. The Dinan car was undeniably faster to 60 and over the quarter mile as well through corners. Having said that, the difference isn't enough to write home about. And that is also true of not of the other tunes out here. It always comes down to personal preference and knowing what you are doing with the car.

I dont have any basis to judge the Dinan offerings, however I too am very happy with my PPK1
