Codes Galore - STOCK car, Cobb readings

So I bought this car a week ago and have already ordered a bunch of things, one of them being a Cobb AP. Over the weekend I was driving to dinner and the check engine light came on. I was across the street from an Autozone so I had them do a typical obd2 reading and it came back with P0015 : Timing over retarded exhaust cam shaft position sensor. When I turned the car back on the check engine light was gone and it has yet to come back on. Fast forward to today. My Cobb AP unit came in the mail. I was aware that it would scan for codes so before even 'installing' it I hooked it up and did a scan with it, I am alarmed by the amount of codes thrown. Some of the following codes were listed 2 or 3 times but I'm only listing them once below.

P2F6C : Exhaust flap control (Cobb wording)
P2F9E : Thermal oil level sensor (Cobb Wording)
P2A87 : Vanos plausibility (Cobb Wording)
P3100 : Air change control (Peak manual)
H3100 : ""
H2F9E : Thermal oil level sensor (Peak Manual)
H2A82 : Intake Vanos variable cam control test (Peak)
H2A87 : Exhaust Vanos variable cam control test, mechanics (Peak)
H2E1D : ignition cyl 6 (Peak)
H29D2 : Misfire cyl 6 (Peak)

The ones listed without a description didn't have one listed in the Cobb AP.

The car is under an extended warranty and I plan to take it into my local independent shop whom I trust for a checkup. I'd like to know what's going on though. I plan to NOT install the Cobb tune or any of the mods I have until all of this is straightened away.

I think it's crazy how many codes were listed yet the check engine light was not on. Is this normal? Are there a lot of people driving around out there throwing codes and they never know it?

Thanks in advance guys!!!

P2F6C : Exhaust flap control (If you unplugged actuator in trunk for golf tee mod this is stored)

P2F9E: If you ever had an oil low light in the dash, this code will show.

Thanks for those two codes. So it's safe to assume that this car, at one point, was modded huh? How else would that exhaust flap get stored?

Should I clear all of the codes and drive for a few days to see what happens? I didn't clear them yet.

Well now that you have a list of the codes stored I would clear them and see if any come back up.

P3100 is a limp mode code also.

Interesting..../sigh

Yeah I didn't know if I should leave them so the shop will be able to see them.

Ok I just updated the list. Found a Peak Research scanner manual and looked up the codes. Do the letters before the codes mean something? P, H etc? The Peak manual just lists the codes with no letters before them.

Quote:
P2F6C : Exhaust flap control (Cobb wording)
P2F9E : Thermal oil level sensor (Cobb Wording)
P2A87 : Vanos plausibility (Cobb Wording)
P3100 : Air change control (Peak manual)

H2A82 : Intake Vanos variable cam control test (Peak)
H2A87 : Exhaust Vanos variable cam control test, mechanics (Peak)
H2E1D : ignition cyl 6 (Peak)
H29D2 : Misfire cyl 6 (Peak)
Hopefully those are not to 'serious'

The letters don't mean anything. The golf tee mod just means someone wanted to vacuum valve in the exhaust always open so the car would be louder, doesn't necessarily means the car was modded but it is possible.

It sounds like your VANOS solenoids might need to be replaced (1 intake & 1 exhaust) and that you also might need new spark plugs & ignition coils (the misfires).

If you're still under warranty, take it to the dealer & make them fix everything at no cost to you -- Not right for them to sell you a car under warranty that needs maintenance work done

If you have a warranty, just take it in and let them deal with it.

No. 2 nights ago I reset them. Yesterday I went to the dyno for some stock numbers so I did 3 4th gear pulls and have yet to throw any codes. They might have been really old codes.

Next week she's going in the shop to have everything looked at though.
