My e92 335i came with black lower grills

I thought they all came with gray grills... I have monaco blue. My boss has an e93 335i black and his has gray grills.

I like the black grills a lot and I hear a lot of people painting their gray ones for black, how did i get so lucky?

I've noticed that also and asked sale man about it but they have no idea... there were like at least 4 335i in the showroom and 3 of them had gray mesh and 1 had black.

i remember seeing 2 brand new 2008 e93 335i's with no tags yet.. both had black lower grills.. any notice these as well?

If I'm not mistaken active cruise cars always have the black lower grills.

no it's not active steering either, i have that as well...im fully loaded and it still came with grey grills!

grills might have been damaged on the transit from germany to the states... they needed to fix it and used the 328 grills instead cause they might be cheaper or in stock. Guys that had the black 335 lower grills come stock from the dealer, check the passenger side grill and make sure it isn't blocked off... could cause a problem not cooling down the oil cooler enough

I was thinking of ordering the 328 grills for when I receive my OE Aero lip. But I hear its a pain in the --- to install.

328 grills fit, it's just that the passenger side grill is blocked off not allowing cool air into the area where the 335 has the oil cooler

u do need to remove the entire front bumper to install new lower mesh... there's a great DIY on how to remove the front bumper. Not hard, just about 30 or so screws.

I have a feeling non sport cars come with black, do you have sport package? Check for the oil cooler as well.

The black grilles have the duct for the oil cooler blocked off where as the gray ones are open.

Either that or you got yourself a 328.

I have sport and I have an intercooler, and twin turbos. There is a hole in the passenger side directing air to the intercooler.

My car wasn't a normal car, it belonged to BMW as an executive car for them for the first 5000 miles.
