How do I get a free software/firmware upgrade?

What can I do/say to the dealer to get a free software upgrade for my i-drive, etc.?

I already told them it freezes, etc. but they just said they can't replicate the problem and it doesn't throw any codes therefore there is nothing they can do.

I need an upgrade before the satellite radio receiver is installed AND after, but I'm willing to pay for it after.

The directions call for it being on the latest update prior to installing the receiver and finally an update after to recognize the new device.

Just tell the dealership your car is too responsive, they will update the car to slow it down in 1st below 3000 rpm. If that doesn't work tell them your mpgs are too high, they'll update the car so it uses more fuel and makes strange noises when you open a door or the trunk.

This would be funny if it weren't true.

Tell them that your radio doesnt hold the last station when shutting it off and then on again that it keeps going to the first stored station. Explain that it doesnt happen all the time but enough to notice it. They cant trace it plus bmw issued a service bulletin on it which states that they will update the progman on the car under warranty.

Ok thanks... Any others?

I think the radio not returning to the last listened to station is my best bet....

Is there one software for everything? Radio, Engine management etc. or are they somehow separate? Can I tell my dealer I do not want the new software (29.2 ?)?
