Hit pothole. Flat tire. Need advice.

Travelling on a highway at about 55-60mph, I hit a very large and very deep pot hole.

The front left tire deflated slowly as the car steered itself to the left so I pulled over to a nearby parking lot. The extent of the damage is largely unknown. There is no visual damage to the rim, no cracks, and the tire has no cut or protrusion. This is a Continental DWS (not run-flat). Luckily my brother came and swapped in my winter tire.

My question: do you think the tire is repairable without buying a new one? I'm sure the rim is bent, and needs repair, but I hope the tire can be saved.

I would say find the extent of the damage then you will find out if it's repairable. But that's just my opinion.

haha yea I will take it to a tire shop soon. Just wondering if it has ever happened to anyone where the rim is bent but the tire is fine. It seems most people replace both.

Yup, happened to me. Hit a pot hole and it was just enough to bend the rim a little and break the bead . I ended up replacing the rim and keeping the tire . I have a friend who has a tire shop and he said the tire was fine. I ran that tire until it was wore out, so obviously it was fine,, but please have someone check yours out. Good luck
