Fuel pump.
Always starts off like that. I'd give it 3-4 wks top if even that. If you you get a CEL and you scan it,expect to find a code that says ''fuel pump plausibility.'' |

my guess is its a pure coincidence.
i've had my hpfp replaced 3 times within the past year and a half of owning it is usually a half day to a day to fix at the dealership but definitely rectify the issue before taking it on a roadtrip...i had mine completely die coming back from a snowboarding trip (but it was the dealership's fault for not fixing it when i clearly told them it was a hpfp problem) last week i had a long crank again...but hasn't happened again since then |

Whole bunch of us in Toronto are experiencing fuel issues the last couple of weeks. Must be something in the gas...seriously...this is odd. Our BBM group album has a whole bunch of CEL pics lol.

I just spoke to my friend who told me to try resetting the adaption values with the BT software/scan tool since the intercooler is SO much bigger than the peepee OEM one...
Has anyone ever tried doing this? Is it a bad idea to reset these less than 24 hours before a Dealership visit? I am afraid to reset things to values that don't look realistic...

Brought it in on a Thursday morning, by Friday afternoon they thought it was a HPFP or Injector... (my guess is they didn't even look at it yet).
Mid day Monday they called saying it was ready and they had replaced the solenoid. I agree sounds like HPFP and a coincidence. Good luck! |

If I posted this thread, it would never reach 3 pages.
But, nonetheless, I got my HPFP replaced and car back today. Long cranks will turn into a random limp mode and SES. Beware and bring tools just in case you have to remove the JB3.

Plausibility is not as big of a deal as Fuel pressure at injection release code. The latter is what will get your pump released more times then not.

LOL!!!! True! Or people would be screaming to do a search, but it is a female posting so there is leghumping.
I'm starting to get nervous-I haven't had any issues with my HPFP since I got the car brand new. I almost want it to happen so I get a new one. With my luck it would go either in a bad location or after the extended warranty expires. Hey, by the way, do you/did you own an E46 328Ci? I think you were at a Curry's Dyno Day years ago-I was there with Sunir, Andy, Pete and some other DTM guys.
