Unhappy my first scratch

So my sister was driving my car to pathmark the other day. She was in the pathmark parking lot, and this guy pulled out of the parking spot without looking and hit my car!!! At first he was trying to say it was my sister's fault, so she called the cops. Cops came and was told what happened and then immediately they said it was the guy's fault... well obviously! So his insurance is paying for all the damage. Anyways... can someone tell me approximately how much it would cost to repair the damage, it's basically only paint damage.

edit: not sure if this is the right place to post this. if it is not then please move it to the right place.

That nearly happened to me when I went to pick up my brother at a high school. The other driver stopped within inches, then shrugged it off, while I was in shock.

Good thing your sis called the cops. That doesn't look too bad, compared to what COULD have happened.

That looks about 3 areas to paint so maybe $600 What is your deductible?

i brought it for an appraisal provided by their insurance company. they quote the damage to be 1500, so they're sending me a check for 1500. do you guys think that's too much or not enough?

I think that will definitely cover it and maybe some extra...perhaps for some mods

Did they quote that from a shop that will paint it for that much? Usually they will tell you where to go. Get some quotes yourself and if it is not enough then tell the insurance company. You could get BMW to quote a price from wherever they send it out to and have them send it over to the Insurance company.

Not a chance it'll be $1,500. If it is they are ripping you off. I'd say about half that considering unless the rocker molding can just be buffed, the entire rear driver side door and fender will have to be repainted. Even if the rocker does have to be entirely repainted I can't see it costing more than $1K.

Well as long as that's not considered insurance fraud (I'm no expert) then great and more power to yeah.

its not a fraud when they feel thats how much its going to cost after the quote. You can go to any autobody and get it done. They probably did the quote based on how much the dealer would charge so you m ight have money left to do other things with.

lucky for me that the car is a lease. I didn't get mad at my sis, cause it's not really her fault; if it was her fault then that would be a different story.. lol... I received the check from their insurance company already, boy that was fast. anyhow, now I just have to find a body shop and have them give me a quote.
