iPod Adapter Question for the 2008 e90s
Hi Guys - sorry I try searching this info in the Search bar. And then it just gets confusing with how many updates there are to the car, especially when it comes to the navi/connectivity features, so I'm not sure what applies and what doesnt apply to my 2008 e92 (just picked it up Nov 1).
So I have the iDrive and the iPod Adapter/Interface/whatever it was called. I have the Y-Cable...it goes to the USB+AUX and my songs show up on the iDrive. Not needed...as I just use Spotify and Pandora the entire time anyways. BUT 1) It's incredibly short cord. It barely extends 3 inches out of my armrest. Is there a longer option from BMW, new version that works with 08 iDrive/iPhone4? Or is there a reliable aftermarket brand members have taken fancy to? (Read a lot posts of ones that won't correctly charge iPhones) Or do you guys just connect sep a charging unit + a sep aux cable? 2) the current cord doesn't feed clearly all the time. connection cuts in and out, when I wave the iphone around sometimes. this common? this would be covered under factory warranty right? my factory warranty is up 11/30, so want to address it asap...but if im just going to get a longer option, I won't bother... Thank youuu! |

It's probably the cord, warranty should give you a new one. I'd take it and resell it either way.

any others input?
also...if i replaced it with aftermarket. would you guys recommend getting a USB charger to use wit the USB port, or an 12V cigarette lighter charger? I read some where that the USB doesn't power enough some times? Not sure how accurate that was. Thanks! |

I plug mine in and listen to pandora all day long. I never have to touch the phone at all. |

I use it for Sirius Radio, Navigation, etc. For me it is important since my car doesn't have iDrive

I've been looking into this as well. I just got an M sport 328i and it doesn't have iDrive. I want to mount my iPhone with a powered cradle so I can run Navigon for navigation and also see album art when I'm playing music.
