HELP! Stop the rattle.

I need suggestions. I have the trunk dyna-matted. but its still sounds like a honda.

Need suggestions for the trunk to get it to stop loosening up.

and for the damn gas cap. I have taken out the magnetic thing because it breaks within 5 minutes of putting a new one in, need a alternative. (already have it velcro'd and dyna-matted)

Bumping 2 12" L7's.

Really? I'm getting like major flex on the entire car, including the back window.

How did you keep the gas cap from breaking?

It sounds like the OP likes loud boomy bass and TMR likes tight accurate bass. That's why he has no rattles.

I don't get much rattles either with my sub setup but I only have a single 12" type-r.

I think more because of how my setup is. I did an SPL on it the other day to see what it will do and it hit 145db so it definitely gets loud when needed.

Are you firing your subs into the trunk or towards the seat? Are you E90 or E92? How much power for your subs?

Not the gas cap, but the magnetic piece that "clicks" it open/close

Trunk rattle is a result of improper orientation AND placement of the woofer(s) inside the trunk. The more it rattles, the more energy is absorbed by the panels and the less sound is heard and felt inside the cabin. I have found that when using a standard subwoofer enclosure, there is practically no way of preventing the majority of the energy staying inside the trunk and being converted to annoying rattles.

The only solutions I am aware of are 1) corner-loading and b) free-air. Corner loading is what I am using now and I am kicking myself for having wasted thousands of dollars in the past for huge subwoofers, enclosures and amps, when you can have much better results for less money using a properly designed enclosure in the rear corner of the trunk, with a single driver and half of the power. Free air (or IB) I have no personal experience with, but I have read that it is very efficient and produces very little rattles, when PROPERLY installed. I believe TMR has a free-air set-up.
