Hurricane Sandy - Got my car back from insurance

So if anyone remembers. I had insurance take my car from Hurricane Sandy.
It was taken first week of November. It was supposed to be delivered by Thanksgiving, and Encompass Insurance sent the car out to be inspected. It ended up being Ok, no problems.

Guess what! It took them until Today to get my car delivered. I was out of a car for 2 months.
First it was delivered to NYC 2 weeks ago without notice, while i was out of the country. AND they lost my car keys. So their plan was to leave it on the street.
Had them take it back.

finally today it was delivered. Mind you I gave them my car in Great condition. I had them take it away after the storm because i was concerned, even though it ran fine.

I want you to look at how it was returned. The crank is gone. Engine doesn't start. The car lot/inspection people opened the car up and put it in neutral.

Also, i need help asap. What is missing from my trunk (left side)??? Clearly something is disconnected.

My claims rep center is closed on weekends. Any advice on how to proceed except getting furious on the phone?

My blood is boiling.

Wait is this serious? If so that is ABSURD, utterly inexcusable on their part. Lawyer up and sue them blind for breach of contract and professional negligence, do you have "before" pictures?

i wish i was exaggerating and just embellishing. but i'm not.

I was literally notified around thanksgiving that the car was in working condition, no problems. clean inspection.

So from then, until today, all this happened.

I have some before pics when the car was picked up by the tow truck. however they are night pics. Clearly running.
But have plenty of previous/regular pictures of my car.

I have a lot of suppressed rage. Trying to keep calm.
Can't do anything until tomorrow...

Wow. Just wow.

That's completely and utterly unacceptable! I give you props for staying as calm as you are right now. I can't remember off hand what is located on the driver's side in the trunk... amp or maybe something to do with the CD changer. I'll take a look at mine and report back.

I think it depends on year. Some years might be CD changer, some years might be Sirius module. In any case, someone stole some shiznit, clearly.

It looks like they took a dump in your car. I would be extremely furious. Do not be satisfied until everything is up to your standards in this case.

I'm angry just looking at this post trying to think what I would do if I were in your shoes.

this is the car lot/inspection where the car was taken, chosen by Encompass

http://www.copart.com/c2/copart_home_page.html

Copart Auctions in Brookhaven NY.

Is it worth calling them and tell them sleep with one eye open?
And agreed, i just said that to myself minutes ago - someone took a dump on the roof and threw up inside.

I'm assuming there is a back story to this?

Why did the insurance take your car in the first place? Were they supposed to bring it to a body or repair shop from damages after the hurricane?

Regardless of why that is unacceptable on so many levels.

It's a pretty simple and short backstory.

The car was located in Queens. Hurricane came, and residents who did stay in their buildings and not do the evacuation said water levels came up to as high as side view mirrors.

As soon as bridges opened up, i went to check out the car. still looked clean inside and out, no water, and ran just fine. As a pre-caution because surrounding buildings and cars were flooded, i called up insurance.

about 3 weeks later the car was deemed OK, no problems, passed inspection. Not going to be scrapped, and i was told i was "of the lucky few" who's car made it out just fine.

The module you are missing is the HiFi amplifier, the CD changer mounts over it and I am sure you would know if that was missing. No reason to touch that. Document everything and call your agent, if you have one, and get them to come write it up and file the claim on your behalf. If I were you, I would change insurance companies too. Liberty Mutual is the CCA's sponsor/carrier and they are really great about care and for my 3 cars, were very reasonable on rates.

That is terrible. If the car is deemed okay, why would they then destroy the car by making it look as if someone took a dump on it. If I were in your position, I'd be going insane. I hope you get this sorted out because this is absolutely unacceptable.

The first picture is what they had to do to put the car into neutral, because i guess there's no other way to do it since the crank is shot.

They put it into neutral so it can be moved if needed. Tow truck was too big to reverse into driveway. So he left it on the street, and my dad had to push it onto the driveway.
Icing on the cake if you will.

I'm sorry to say, whatever lawyer you get sir, it will be worthless. Insurance companies have better lawyers, that's why they make the big money from you.

I feel bad for you though, being in the position you are at and I do hope you can prove me wrong.

Ho. Ly. Shit.

Absolutely amazing. I'm dealing with an incompetent body shop right now, and this makes my issues look completely petty by comparison.

I wish I had some advice for you, other than Lawyer Up. I hate seeing an E9x in distress. These pictures are hard to look at.

So wait, the console and interior was all intact and you got it back like that? What the hell were they doing with it?

How deep was your car in water for you to give them a car in perfect condition for them to inspect?

I feel like something has to be missing in this story.
