You guys are funny! My car gets here on Friday, so we're gonna have to meet up somewhere this weekend. I need to meet you dudes. I need some lessons on police-friendly driving.

Can't this weekend ... Headed to Sante Fe for a get-away ... Got a free hilton certificate that is going to expire, and I've not been to NM ... so why not ... After this, only two more states until I've been to all 50 ... Now I need a reason to go to SD and ND.

@Xander: Welcome to the forums! Sorry, been AWOL from this place recently because of work up to my eyeballs.
Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations on custom radar installation places, but I do have experience with both the Valentine One and the Escort 9500ix. V1 Pros:
9500ix Pros:
All in all, I find that both units have their uses and drawbacks. Around town, I prefer the 9500ix and its filtering and false signal learning features. On long distance road trips, I prefer the uber-sensitivity of the V1. When driving around town with the V1, I found myself getting so used to the false signals and the constant chattering that I was becoming desensitized to the unit, which effectively rendered it useless (except when the laser siren triggered). Compared to the V1, the 9500ix is eerily quiet. For the first couple of weeks or so of driving around with it, it picks up pretty much everything the V1 did, but as you start making the trips over and over, it starts to learn each signal and marks their location. Once it's marked, you won't hear it again. Now, my common trips are completely silent unless there's a real signal. However, the one thing I do miss on the 9500ix is the laser sensitivity of the V1. Sure, by the time I get tagged by laser, the piggy already has my speed, but I would still want to know I got tagged instead of guessing if I did or not. If Escort managed to raise the sensitivity of their detector to V1 levels, or if V1 implemented the GPS functionality of the 9500ix, then that, in my opinion, would be the perfect detector. Hope that helps! (Or confuses the bejeebers out of you!) What's wrong with pho?!? Just because you couldn't stomach it....

Xiaofeng, you might have sold me on both detectors. I have a fairly new Escort 8500.
