If you plan on driving it as daily and thru winter then it definitely worth it.

honestly you COULD go RWD, but its definitely more convenient to have awd. just saying.

My boy has a 135 with blizzaks on it in ny and he said its a terror. I had 2 mustangs in the snow in ny and driving isnt so much the issue its more so getting out of parking spots or pulling into parking spots when you stop at red lights and stops sign starting off again is a pain, so driving in the snow not so bad but pulling off from a stop time consuming.

Def worth getting IMO. I myself absolutely HAVE to get to work if it snows (it's actually a priority in my field). I never got stuck, my FWD car back in 2005 couldn't even get down the block with all seasons, but it was lowered as well.
I have a 335xi and I'm lowered on KW V3 and I plow right through the snow with no issues with my runflats. I don't even have winter tires.

RWD is perfectly fine, just get a good set of snow tires. I daily drove my lowered rwd 335 all winter and didnt have any issues. Having awd will just help you get up to more dangerous speeds quicker, doesnt do anything for braking.

It's true also awd is extra 500lbs and my rwd gets a lot better mpg. Either way you will prob get 2 sets of wheels due to mod bug if you have a steep driveway I would get awd tho. Otherwise on LI rwd is fine. Yea awd has better launch but u can always put in a LSD = WiN!!

AWD for the win... those RWD guys cant keep all that torque like us AWD guys
plus its nice to be able to get places in the winter... if we were in cali or florida then RWD all the way but NY NJ PA CT is AWD or bust!

my next car will NOT be an AWD. Its funny, we say we need awd cars for the snow here etc... Everytime it snows, I stay off the roads until they are plowed and then use my awd car for plowed roads. RWD with snow tires IMO is the way to go!

If you've been driving all your life with FWD in the snow and decide to get RWD (snow tires or not), you're not going to have a pleasant experience in snowy conditions.

If the raised height doesn't bother you or you plan to drop it, then get the AWD. It bothered me and I didn't want to drop it so I got RWD. I have no regrets.

It is a good excuss for the wify to buy a beater. I brought my car up from miami when I moved here back in Sept. I got a good deal on a 99 A4 awd for 3200. Now I us the bimmer as my fun car on the weekends.
