Sorry guys, I know this is an old thread... but what has happened to all the images in the OP?

They've all disappeared and say a photo bucket upgrade is needed to view them.

Is it just me or has it happened for anyone else? It's really annoying

Probably because it is such an old thread, the photos on the site they are hosted i.e. photobucket have been deleted by the OP?

No, Photobucket sopped third party linking. Twats!

You can get a plug in for Chrome and Firefox to show them again.

I hoped that wouldn't be the case! It's frustrating as there are so many useful guides which have now lost the images...

Any idea what the plug in is called?

Peeling Steering wheel - DIY

Thanks OP (and the rest) for the detailed process for correcting the peeling steering wheel.

Everyone's posts encouraged me to have a go - in the past spray paint and I have been at loggerheads.

I think I may have won this time round.

I followed same instructions except that I used Etching Primer (grey) instead of standard primer for use after sanding down the old trim.

Here are the pics.

Thanks again!

Peeling Steering Wheel Fix

If your wheel has no controls on it, you need more than just the
steering wheel with the buttons.

You need the MF Steering column control module, like 1K0 953 549 CD.

You need the wire harness, and module IN the wheel.

You need the clock-spring module.

You need VCDS to let the car know its there.

No tiptronic means no shift paddles.
No sport wheel means the steering wheel is not thicker, does not have the hand bolsters at the 10 and 3 position.

Not worth it unless you REALLY have time and money to do it all...

Welcome to the forum but I think you missed the point of this thread.
It is about refurbishment of an existing steering wheel not replacement of the wheel to gain extra functions.

Whizzkid was showing us how he turned a really tatty looking wheel into one that is 'as new'.
