Has anyone ever heard of (or used) the garage called SPEED AUTOTECH on Pierrefonds Blvd in the West-Island?
They specialized in German cars. Link to their website: http://www.speedautotech.ca/

I'd love to drive/try a muscle car, but I wouldn't own one. Car is up for sale shortly, getting closer to a next car.....Cayman is top of list right now.....

I haven't used them in a couple of years. They were ok then. They've had to hire a few more mechanics to support the extra garage bays they added. What are you looking to have done?

They're aimed at very different audiences, I think. The 911 is somewhat stately in comparison, it's VERY well built, and it has this vintage jet fighter feel with the classic gauges and the lighting. It also has what feels like JUST the right amount of power for the weight/balance of the car, and although you can sort of flog it, it's never out of control. The exhaust note is terrible (it's basically quiet) but I picked up a replacement exhaust that should improve this.
The C7 is like a schizophrenic on a bad meth trip. It's incredibly fun to watch, and it's incredibly awesome to be in. Flooring the gas at 0 km/h throws you back and gives you whiplash. Flooring the gas at 100 km/h throws you back and gives you whiplash. Flooring the gas at ... any speed, really, throws you back and gives you whiplash. The dual LCDs, seating position, steering feel, are all awesome. But you can never turn off traction control on this because it ALWAYS loses traction when I floor it. It's also made of plastic and children's wishes (and has 460hp) - the door panels wobble when you close it. Since I have the convertible here, it has ZERO trunk space. Absolutely zero. My 911 fit my suitcase in the frunk with no problems, and I still had rear space; nothing like that in the C7 (the hardtop is a completely different story, though). But in fuel economy, strangely, the C7 wins, hands down. I think I'm doing a very reasonable 15-17 L/100 km. The 911 is steadily sitting at 20... So if one wants a wild, giggle-inducing ride, the C7 fits the bill, and looks RIGHT, as well. But the 911 is a much more refined car. IMHO, anyway. Now maybe a 911 Turbo with one of those 900hp kits........... Also, the C7 is kind of like the Golf R. It gets comments from pickup-driving shirtless dudes who salivate over it. The 911 gets no feedback from anyone.

My concern is finding a place that's NOT a dealership, yet is reliable and knowledgeable about our cars.

If you live in the West Island it would certainly make sense. Some of the other members might be able to point out a place or two.
