tire pressure on v710s
hey guys I just recently put on a set of 19 inch vmr v710s on my e90 and I was wondering what pressures should I be running them in.
It is m3 offset and the specs are: 265/30/(I think 19) rear and 235/35/19 front it is just for everyday driving so yeah, any input would be appreciated |

haha, at first I thought you meant kumho victoracer v710 tires.
but look in your manual, there should be a chart with tire pressures with 17, 18, and 19" wheels that you can use as a starting point. |

Recommended tire pressure is typically listed in the owner's manual and often times on a placard on the driver's door frame. Regards, Rich |

OP has new wheels and likely different tires - follow the recommended values on the tires.

^I only see the max inflation pressure listed on the sidewall, and you should NOT run with that much pressure

Those are MAX values, not recommended values.
And yes, it makes a difference what size rim setup you have on a car. BMW recommends 32PSI front, 35 PSI for the rear OEM ZSP 18's. This pressure may or may not be ideal depending on the new larger wheel size.

+1, Tire pressure on sidewall just shows you the maximum load carrying capacity at the indicated maximum tire pressure.
Putting that much psi into the tire will guarantee you uneven tire wear and risk of tire blowout Last edited by Vnak; 02-21-2009 at 01:41 AM.. |

I used to run 37 all around on 19" non-RFT's, but then I switched to 34 front and 35 rear because it rides much smoother. Gas mileage probably suffers, but it's negligible and well worth it.

As everyone has already stated, that is the max tire pressure, not the recommended tire pressure by any stretch of the imagination. Like I already stated, consult the owner's manual, it usually has a chart for multiple sizes of tires and different load ratings. Cars manufactured for the US tend to recommend tire pressures that are on the high side (due to litigation, feel free to look up the Firestone/Ford Expedition fiasco) as well as higher rear tire pressures to increase understeer (again, due to litigation). I would be afraid to experiment some within a few pounds (plus or minus) of recommended tire pressures to see what works best for your car, your roads, your tires, your driving style but be sure to determine the manufacturer's recommended tire pressure first as a baseline. But, don't use the max pressure listed on the side of the tire. Hell, even Click and Clack know better than that: http://www.cartalk.com/content/featu...ips/tires.html Regards, Rich |
