fuel pump issues HPFP - common in Australia?

Hi I've been getting the "engine fault - reduced power" light, with the car under acceleration starts to shudder etc. Prolonged cranks to start etc.

Has anyone had these problems in OZ that the guys over in the US have had problems with?

Mate they are as common as sexually transmissible infections...lot of Australian forum members have had several fuel pumps replaced.

Uh yeh mate, that sounds like your fuel pump is gone.

I'm on my second pump. I'm considered a lucky one, many Aussies are on their 3rd or 4th.

The question isn't "have you had a HPFP failure?" it's "which fuel pump are you on?"

Both N54 (2006-2010.5) and N55 (2010.5 till end of lifecycle) engines are prone to fuel pump issues.

They should do the work under goodwill, some i heard had to pay labor costs though. Try and push them to do the work for no cost.

Refer to the thread below for some media links re the US Recall or the so-called Aussie "Technical Campaign" (from OCT 2010)...
