keeping the radio on w/ car off.
So earlier today, i was sitting in my car w/ the engine off. I was listening to the radio, and i didn't time it or anything, but after what was probably about 10 minutes, the radio and iDrive screen turn off. This is w/ the key in the ignition slot.
Is there a way to keep the radio from turning off automatically?

damn, for real? So i have to just let it shut off, and then push the start button again for it to come back on? that's pretty lame.

Having the car not start because you drained the battery listening to the radio with the car off is lamer though...

yeah, but 10 min? the car's definitely gotta have more than enough battery power to run the radio for longer than that.

Yeah they do that. You should be able to push the volume button in though to get it back on again, don't need the key in the slot

What if you push the start button in without pressing the brake. Its like turning the key half way in a regular car. Maybe that way it will know your sitting there listening vs. the car going to sleep after 10 minutes.

I think it won't shut off, but it will eat a lot more battery than just radio mode because all systems will be powered and ready.

My E46 when the car is off; you can push the volume button inward and it will turn the radio on. I found this out when i was cleaning the interior, i posted something on the E46 forum and many did not know this but some did and confirmed it. It stays on for a while as well, eventually it does turn off.
Wonder if the E9X are the same. I can check tomorrow.

alright, i'll give it a try next time i'm just chillen in the car for a while.
Thing that sucks though, is that the reason why i'm asking in the first place is i recently got this e91 wagon. I went to the beach today, and laid in the back w/ the hatch open listening to the radio, when i noticed it shut off. if i ever do that again, and i have to keep fiddling w/ the radio every few minutes, it would be a bit of a pain to crawl to the front and push a button haha.

I agree with this. Although, I guess I have never had the radio on for very long while just waiting in the car.
