replacing my rft real soon

what do you recommend for non rft? I'm gearing toward michellin non rft. Don't care much about tread life since most BMW tires will last about 20k miles.

What kind of driving will you be doing with the car? What are the conditions you'll be looking at? Do you have a price range?

Especially with the "all BMW tires last 20k miles" generalization.

Sounds like the OP should do some tire research on TireRack.com.

Read my post again, I never said 'all'. You either need glasses or learn to quote properly.

That's because most BMW owners can afford to replace their tires every 20,000 miles!

I just put on the new super sports. Excellent tire, can't wait for my tread to wear out on my other car so I can put these on it too!

Michelins are arguably the best if you want to spend a lot of money... Other good options are the Hankook V12's and the Continental DWS's. In a motortrend article that compared all of those tires based on price/quiteness/durability/handling and traction - they all ended up about even... with the PilotSports being used as a benchmark.

OK, you said "most", not all. Now if you can provide a source for that assertion, I'll be happy to apologise.

My point is that while performance summer tires which are OEM on the sport package equipped BMWs normally last from only 15 to 25,000 miles, non ZSP all-seasons may last considerably longer.

And you did not provide much info in your original post.

At any rate, the Pilot Sport A/S is a fine tire, although you might check out the Continental Extreme Contact DWS which is comparable and may be less expensive.

Had a 2008 E92 with Bridgestone RFT's and they were OK. I got a 2010 E92 with Michelin Pilot Sprts RFT's and liked them more than the Bridgestones. When the RFT's wore out I replaced them with Pilot Sport non RFT's. The difference in price covered the cost of a space saver spare, and A tire change kit. I also carry a plug kit, a can of fix-a-flat, and a small compressor.

Love the Michelins and prefer the ride with the standard tires over RFT"s.

While its true that summer tires typically only see about 20,000 miles of wear on average, you can get longer wear with all-season tires that have less dry grip and handling. 30,000+ miles is no uncommon, even on a BMW.

Geez, I am used to my tires lasting 10k to 15k at most. But I have been driving M cars for a decade.
