That could be a problem. If we try to code the TC out, then there may be a computer interference disabling the ABS/DTC due to the TC being inactive. There could be a problem in "singling out" the deactivation of the transfer case.

I think blauner335 was going to install a relay system (or something of that nature) so that the power to the TC was cut but the computer thinks it's still active.

Right, I believe I will be able to fool the computer in regards to the TC. My major concern is whether or not the computer will also look at the rotation of the front wheels. It could send some warnings or errors out when we are doing some burn outs or what not and it wants to transfer some power to the front and sees that no matter how hard it tries, the front wheels are still not spinning as fast as they should be. But, time and testing will tell.

Sorry for the delay. I have been really busy lately. Just moved into a new house a couple weeks ago so that has been taking up lots of time. Anyways, I looked around some on the car and have been looking things up on the system. I've learned a lot, but there is still a lot more I need to know. The servo control motor was a little different than I thought it was going to be. Not a huge problem though. I am refining my idea a little bit but I think it will turn out much better. I think this is going to turn into a summer project for me. I am going to need to take a lot of data with the car up and running to make sure I get this right.

Quick question in case anyone knows: When you pull the fuse to make the car RWD, do you know whether that completely shuts off power to the servo control motor, or does the car automatically default the servo control motor to RWD by applying power to it since it senses an error? Or is it by default RWD? If no one knows, I can find out real quick by doing it myself, I just didn't have the time and equipment with me last weekend to do it.

I haven't had any game changers yet that says you cant do this, but like I said before, I don't want to get everyone's hopes up so don't take this to the bank.

I pulled the wiper and fuse 26, did some donuts and burnout straight line starts, my car absolutely spins one tire in the corners but still manages to break loose and slide pretty good.

Car feels pretty weird though, hard acceleration didn't seem right and the 1-2 shift didn't feel normal to me. I put it back but will probably roast my tires to the belts this fall when I buy some all season rubber

Hey Everyone,

I am in the process of ordering parts and equipment. I already bought my own servo control motor to play with and will probably purchase my own transfer case in the future if things work out, which I am confident they will. Hopefully in a month or two I can have my first baseline prototype in my car to begin testing

Still working it. I am getting another piece of instrumentation in tomorrow that is really going to help move me forward. I have learned so much about x-drive and this car, it is really a neat system. I have spent a lot of money on this too so far, but I am really enjoying everything.

This thing really is going to be awesome once it's done. I can't wait. Looks like it will be about a 5-10 minute install, with the only tool needed a Phillips head screwdriver (2 screws) if the current path I am going down works out.

Just be a little patient with me. It is frustrating for me that I can't work as fast as I would like to on this, but working full time and just buying a house kind of limits you. I would expect sometime in the fall for me to be driving around with a working prototype and testing it out, or maybe even sooner

I am interested to do an AWD dyno and a RWD dyno so we can see what kind of driveline losses we have thru the transfer case when the clutch is engaged.

I'm working on it. I just received a transfer case servo, all I have to do is see if my idea will work...

I think it will improve your MPG because the only the rear wheels are putting resistance on the system. Look at it like a 4wd truck. Put the truck in 4wd and your mileage goes down. Put it back in 2wd and the mileage gets better. Now the increase in mileage might not be spectacular, it should be an improvement.
Fueleconomy dot gov says that the 335xi gets 17 city and 25 highway. For the 335i it says 18 city and 26 highway.
