Ok, but if you got better sound + more hp why don´t BMW save the money and quit installing actuators in the cars ? And they don not have issues with legalities.

This does work great, but I got "Service Engine Soon" message after a couple of weeks on my 08 335i coupe. Dealer tracked it down to this being unplugged. Got my hand spanked.

So, if you were to replace your OEM exhaust with a M-Tech catback, pay them a bundle, and unplug this, then in that case they wouldn't spank your hand?
Makes no sense.
I'm pretty confident they played a trick on you.
This unplugging does not send a code. I know for a fact.

its a noise mod, and yes it does trigger a code (not tuner), but should not trigger a check engine light.

IMO, do what you want with your car, i dont think its a waste of time/useless mod, its just preference. If you do it, get a BT cable to clear the code before going to the dealer.

I tried this and drove it all day, and the difference was minimal during acceleration. It's a bit growlier under 2.5k, but everything after that seemed similar. HOWEVER, I do love the gurgling I get when I let off gas.

Yup, '08 335i with 21k miles, bought a month ago and BMW certified. Spent 3 days at the dealer and they had no idea what the problem was at first, so they had to email back and forth the BMW Injectors GURU somewhere in the East coast who directed the entire operation remotely, and at the end, his diagnosis was, replace entire injector rack and reset computers. After that, problem entirely gone!!
I know because I got a hold of the service sheet and all this together with error message codes, etc was in there.
Nowhere did it say that they picked up any other funky codes in addition to the injectors issue.
So, in my case I think it was just bad luck and that the mod had very likely nothing to do with the injectors going bad. It was really cool while I had it and all, but just in case, I am not unplugging that connector again. It just gives me a bad feeling now...
I'm curious to know the build date of your car as I just had exactly the same issue and replaced the injector rack
my car is an 08 335xi coupe build date 11/07

As for the plug mine has been unplugged for 2 months now and I asked my service technician to specifically check for codes around that and he said nothing came up, he is actually telling other customer about it now ,

This does trigger a "service engine soon" eventually. Plugged it back in and it went away

Nonsense, and I think this ongoing discussion should be put to rest. There's no codes associated with this mod, period. People need to stop the paranoia about this.

Why? Easy, first because one does not get any of these codes and/or messages each and every single time the OEM exhaust is replaced for an aftermarket, even a BMW Performance catback, etc.

Second, when my injectors rack were replaced I got a copy of the codes printout from when it went in for service, looked each of them up and none of them meant anything other than the injectors issue. The real and ultimate proof that, at least on VB73 335s, the unplugging does NOTHING!!!!

Now watch as despite this the debate goes on and on and on.....

Uh, that is absolutely not true on the code issue.

When using the unplug the actuator method, it does indeed trigger a hidden code, which can be seen with the BT (something like an exhaust fume flap error). I have seen it with my own eyes on my BT. There is no code thrown if you do the true "golf-tee" mod by unplugging the vacuum hose and capping it with something.

Having said that, its most likely the dealership will ignore, and I usually don't give it a second thought.

This does indeed eventually trigger a code AND an SES light. I had it unplugged for almost a month and got an SES light. Plugged it back in, went to the dealer to get it cleared, unplugged it again, and got another SES light 2 weeks later On the butt dyno, it felt like the car really ran out of steam up top with the plug disconnected so it MIGHT make you lose power. I have an N55 though.

SES was not actuator related, at least not on N54. I have had mine unplugged for basically 3 straight years, and never have had an SES light come on.

N55 could be different, maybe they put a check in the ECU as an extra step to prevent people from doing the mod? Maybe the actuator in the N55 also controls other vac systems as well?
