The phrase "climate change denier" is the new moveon.org shorthand for likening climate change skepticism to a holocaust denier, ergo my nazi comments. There is a long history of this and it is tiresome. Second order effects are invoking Godwin's Law for anyone who points it out. Again tiresome.

I find it odd climate issues are brought up in a thread about massive turbo mods, which seem to have primary cats deleted. But then people who can't even do basic arithmetic regarding budget deficits and unsustainable social programs seem to like to lecture me about what is and isn't good science. Again not unusual, quite a few logical/moral inconsistencies in that group.

Anyway back on topic, I hope to either go stage 2 or RB hybrids soon mainly because I doubt the stage 3's will fit Xi + AT. Then I will be able to increase my carbon footprint to the point that I can feed many, many trees.

I'm most curious about how the transfer case will hold up, of all things. I also heard on another forum that the dual mass flywheels have a risk of exploding, but this might be select rumors.

Is the installation any different for the xi? (such as getting special downpipes to fit the xi, vs. different requirements for rwd) I figure that, since my turbos are beginning to show that "siren noise" while cool, and since I live in the Bay Area, it would be a good idea to remanufacture them instead of replace them, especially since I am running with a tune, to begin with.

I've had upgraded "stage 1" turbos for about 40-45k miles. I don't drag race my car so the transfer case has held up fine. I don't intend on drag racing my car once the stage 2 turbos arrive either so I'm not worried.

XI's require XI specific downpipes. That's nothing new. It has nothing to do with the turbos though.

I agree with you 100% on this, being local to Vargas has adds a benefit to the remanufactured stock turbo upgrade, but I am really curious as to what stage 2 will put down as well, good work tony for bringing so many options to the table!

I think the T case weakness was more of a rumor. The dual mass issue is real, pics of destroyed DMFW on other forums, plus obvious cure of crank sensor misfire on high HP cars when SMFW is substituted.

Now it looks like the AT is the weak spot in the drivetrain if you happen to have one, for the high HP cars. Though some very interesting things going on with a possible bootleg Alpina reflash to improve shift times and firmness as we type. It is rumored to also do throttle blips and rev matching on downshifts. We shall see. Lot of people looking for Level 10 alternatives to upgrading internals also.

I am probably stuck with stage 2 hybrid type upgrade options given tight space on AT + Xi. I think you'd still need Xi-specific DP's on a stage 2, since they are form factor identical to OEM.

I was reading a post by fftec on the evo forum. They posted pictures of their big turbo kit going into a 335xi.

Are your stage 2's already installed? Any other Stage 2 beta testers?

If the xi transfer case can hold up, potential for big power on this platform. Better chance of halfshafts holding up and being able to put the power down. At least for the 6mt guys with a cluth upgrade.

Happy to see some mid 10second xis.

I am just hoping we see some ballpark price points for the stage 3 kit soon. I am in the market for RBs and would consider waiting if I had an idea on price point for stage 3.

I realize there is no comparision between rbs and this stage 3 kit. But depending on price point it will push me in one direction or the other.

Do you plan on taking it to the strip? Could be the first customer 10 second pass.

Just spoke with Tony: a guy at the parts warehouse fell asleep and forgot to ship a part so he will be getting the full kits within a week I would assume and then all of us kids get our late Xmas presents!
