Help with console re-install after V1 hardwire.

I hardwired my Valentine 1. Everything works, but I can't get the light console to hook back in. It just hangs about a half an inch down from the fabric. I've tried and tried to press it up in, but nothing sticks. What am I missing?

Put the back edge (the edge towards the rear of the car) in first so it is clipped under and flush with the headliner. And then push the front edge up.
Good luck!

That is exactly what I did, but the part clearest to the windshield doesn't lock in.

Well huh? Sorry, I don't know what to tell you at this point. Try checking to see if the 2 metal spring clips (on the front edge, ie. the edge facing the front windshield) are in place and not bent These clips are what lock it in place. Also, if you haven't seen this already, it may help.

Good luck!

Ahhh mine are bent completely out horizontal. I must have done that when I took it out. I thought that was how it was supposed to be. That is indeed the issue, thanks.

I did the same and since I could not buy the clips by themselves I pulled the plastic light cover off and carefully selected a small self tapping screw and very carefully shot a screw up through the plastic reflector around the fuse like bulb into the metal then put the cover back on. Just be careful as you don't want to nick any wires or circuit boards or go through the roof! But it snugs up like new.

Garage List
check and see if the small transformer for the V1 is not in the way and also make sure that no wires are in the way of where a clip should engage. Hope this helps.
