Of course my first thing to post and say is just be patient and save up for the PE, its really worth the money. Secondly I guess start with removing 2nd cats and resonator and run the stock rear section. I really dont think it will accomplish much. I would talk to muffler shop and just have them weld up a universal rear section and some tips and be done with it, its cheap and will less restrictive then what you're running now.

drop 2nd cats, swap stk muff for a maganflow (theres 2 or 3 choices for our cars) and if you still have money left over have them fab you up a y pipe in place of the resonator.

BMW made a mid pipe for a while, it was 400-500 bux i believe (dont quote me) but your muffler shop should be able to make you one for 350 or so.

Dont pay more than 75-100 bux to delete the 2nd cats, and 150-185 for the muffler install & tip install.

The magnaflow mufflers are around 180-220 new

U.S. PE replaces both the muffler & includes a new midpipe section that deletes the resonator.

PE muffler is different than stock muffler + res delete = perfect sound IMO & I have had both a Remus Quad & Ikon system installed before the PE to compare to. Ikon muffler had closest sound to PE - but I had to delete the res to get that sound. With the res still in place the Ikon did not sound as good...

The stock exhaust has a 2 into 1 resonator. If you want to remove the resonator you need a y-pipe in place of it.

I don't see why people like the PE because it doesn't do it for me. If I am going to throw money down on exhaust, I want it to scream. That's me. I will be doing a muffler and resonator delete in the near future. My state and county requires a muffler for a visual inspection on the car, so I will be purchasing a cherry bomb shorty glasspack and hollowing it and using it as the muffler. Cheaper than any other pre-fabbed exhaust on the market and louder than any of them too! I expect, with instillation, to be in the exhaust between $350-500 as the glasspack is almost $50 at a local autoparts.

I say go with that, or a similar set up. But if you don't enjoy exhaust in place of your radio, this might not be for you.

true. but its all subjective. imo, the PE makes N52 engines sound like they should. anymore would be overdoing it. now if it was an m5, i would see how people would want to make it scream haha.

I know that you said you didnt like muffler delete and I was skeptical about it from the videos, but I got bored and just decided to do it and I am so pleased at the sound and volume level I achieved while spending only $75.

Like i seriously would recommend it to everyone. I didnt delete the resonator for fear it would be too loud and it is perfect deleting only the muffler. I LOVE mine.

I think the videos give wrong conclusion bc basically none of them have audio taken from a high quality mic.

just my opinion though.

mine doesnt "scream" yet sounds so perfect and is so far from ricey. There is a small crackle when you let off the gas in 1-3rd (6mt). I couldnt be happier.

$25 Y with dual 3" tips
$50 local exhaust shop custom pipe.

I dont find the PE worth the same amount as a decent set of coilovers.

I experience no noticeable torque loss, no highway drone, basically stock volume at under 2k rpm while driving, only loud when its pulling and a grin on my face everytime i start my car and pass a median/wall/truck/anything that reflects the sound at me.

Only downside is the loss of mpg i experianced ONLY bc i leave my car in lower gears just to hear the exhaust.
