Post MOSCONI 120.4 DSP Setting Files for Right hand BMW UK AUSTRALIAN Cars

EDIT: LHD files are added is post 7.

I have came across few Gladen / Mosconi sound systems and I had to tweak them to get best out of them. I am just an ordinary person who likes to listen and enjoy the music and use my ears to tweak the sound (other than O-scope if needed). So please keep your expectations under control.

The intention is to start a new thread with some DSP setting collections and help them who cannot adjust this by themselves.

Another reason is to make 120.4 DSP amp plug and play for some forum members so they can use these files to adjust their sound system without any professional help. In other words, this kit is better than Alpine retrofit kit but Alpine is PNP. With these files, Mosconi / Gladen sound system will be PNP.

Before you proceed and apply any of these settings to your amp, please consider that these files are adjusted for
- RHD (Right hand drive cars)
- Front Channels on 120.4 DSP = Front door speakers
- Rear Channels on 120.4 DSP = BMW under seats

***If you use the rear channels of the amp to amplify the rear channels or any other drivers, then these files are not valid for your sound system and you will cook your rear speakers by using this.***

Now, my files are based on three different profiles.

1- Any Sound system at any volume (ranges from any normal listener to competition level).

2- Sound system to compensate mid range deficiencies on BMWs.
(for those who feel that there is mid range gap and sound stage is not in front of them)

3- Sound system tweaked for those who listen to their music at low - moderate volume

Please download all of these files and try one by one and see which one is best for your need.

Once you download them, you will have to rename them to .gas extension. In order to do that, select one of these files, press F2 on you windows and change the extension from .txt to .gas and you will be good to go.

When you are comparing these files, please keep the external factors constant such as

- Music Track
- Volume settings
- Source of input (aux-in / CD / HD based music / 6FL / 6NF)

Now all I ask you is to thank this forum and other forum members (IanS100 & Andyrap) and share your experience by stating which one you liked. Remember, by saying thanks and mentioning best file for your setup will keep this thread alive and useful for other searchers / forum members.

Loving this thread
I've been struggling to get a set up that I'm happy with. Nothing wrong with the kit, just the set up is a little confusing to the novice.

Can I just clarify the gain set-up:-
I downloaded a test cd
played it at around 3/4 volume
adjusted the gains up until the clipping led light came on then took it back a notch

I did try the multimeter route but for some reason I couldn't get the output high enough.

Many thanks for taking the time to help others. In my short time using the forum it is something i've noticed on numerous occasions

Also thanks to Ian(IanS100) for sharing his settings initial with me

I have tweaked these files for LHD. Just change their extensions.

These files are examples and I have set them virtually. If you wish, you can improve it further.

All the best.

Yeah cheers makkan, all are much better than the setup I was running before especially the first 2. It's amazing how little the equaliser needs tweaking to achieve right balance. I would still like a little more kick in the bass without being muddy but when turned up it does sound immense.
As i voted I'm using the midrange adjusted one but I suppose it's music dependant which suits the best

Thanks mate for the feedback. I guess if I work on a dedicated car while listening to it, I may be able to improve it further.

Hi Sam, I've been swapping between 2 & 3 for the last couple of weeks and settled on 2. Like Ju I could do with some more bass so I had a fiddle with the equaliser but it didn't seem to make much different, probably because I have no idea what I'm doing 2 is certainly much better than the setting I was using previously

Thanks Mate.
I will see if I can get some time and improve number 2.

Hi Sam
First of all, thnx for creating these settings files and make them available for us noobs ;-)

Are these settings files only good for E90's?
Should there be any adjustments for E91's?

Hi
Each headunit keeps the DSP files according to the car. And these files were created by Gladen for E9x (not sure which car).

Given the fact that DSP settings are in the car, which will impact on these DSP from the listener's perspective. In other way, DSP settings are coming from the HU and these files take it from there onward.

I have adjusted these from the corssovers and gain point of view and not from the listener's distance.

All my kit (120.4 DSP and the Gladen etc) has now arrived. Once all in and I've had a chance to get used to the significant improvement in SQ, I'll try these files and let you know my thoughts.

Thanks

will the files de-EQ the base stereo signal?

Thanks for the very useful thread. appreciate it.

my main question is if the settings you have will de-EQ the highly equalised signal from the base stereo head unit?

I haven't coded mine to HiFi to clear the signal so wanted to check this before changing anything.

I'd suggest you to hi-fi.
You can only de-EQ upto certain extent and will be able to do it ONLY if you know what equilization they have used.

I have installed on both base (without coding to hi-fi) and hi-fi system (coded base to hi-fi) and results on later one are better than former.

Call me daft, as ive no idea what most of these settings mean.
Ive not uploading any settings yet via laptop, as I dont have access to a windows laptop currently..

Not even sure what to set the amps settings too.
Can anyone help?

Assume when ive got this right, I can burn the test CD and sort the gain out...

I must emphasise that gains and settings should be setup by professional.
Once those are set, then you play with the files which I have uploaded.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage to your speakers or amplifiers if gains are not set.

Ill pass then.
Ive got the mode button set to 4ch...

The front set to high - Doors
The rear set to low - Under seats

With this, nothings coming from the under seats, guess thats because the frequency crossover isnt set right in the software from factory..
