Mini john cooper works

I have just ordered a sensible family car (Merc). Now my wife has decided she wants something small and different ,last month she wanted a coupe e92 but wont wait for the face lift in the spring .So today its a done up mini wtf i sold one a year ago as it was too small.

We had a row a year ago as the Mini was to small and bought a golf GTI .now the Golf is gone and replaced by a c class est .She said she cant park her E90 and want something small like a mini sometimes i give up .

Is a mini JCW worth around £25k i am struggling with the idea and small discounts and horrible px value on the E90 .Does anyone have any pointers on the best place to try and get some idea PX wise

I had a mini and it was fine it lost money like every car we have bought .so i expect the JCW to be the same anyone hav any suggestions to spec ?

Stick with a standard Cooper S with Chilli and decent wheels it should hold its value better than most other cars. I do not see the point in splashing out £1000s extra on the JCW package. A £25K MINI seems well OTT to me.

Based on what you have said, your wife doesn't come across as a car enthusiast as such. 25k for a Mini seems alot to me even for someone who is an enthusiast.

If she's struggling to park a larger car then could it be a case of rose coloured glasses and the Mini feels a safe comfort zone?

Could you sell the E90 privately perhaps?

I agree with Peter on the choice of Mini..............bloody women eh, never satisfied.

Or at least give her a lesson in economics. Doesn't she know, or hasn't she heard, there's a recession on?

Think £25k is a bit of overkill on a mini as some others have suggested a mini cooper s would probably be better, you can pretty much make it as individual as you like but if you had one previous i would rather try something else.

The fiat 500 is a good shout, they do an abarth now dont they.

What about a used Audi tt if the wife wants something small and stylish.

Dont think any of the above would shed money like the bmw, would test the water with yours as a private sale maybe on Pheads if you can put up with the hassle...

speced up some COOPER S

I had a hunt around today it does seam that there are a few deals on MINI S ,seams the factory is giving you £500 towards extras and i think i am correct in saying you can get some discount .

I thought about pepper white cooper s with black roof, mirrors and bonnet stripes with flame alloys and some driving lamps Sytner have a pre reg one with 12 miles on exactly to this spec

Is that like having the same dress on or something? I would just go one up and get the TTS convertible or the TT RS!

Go for the pre reg one if it has some decent money off, discounts off new factory order Minis are still very very small.

BTW your Mrs sounds like she is high maintenance......most would be happy with a Skoda Fabia .....

JCW discounts

I have had one of the dealers play hard ball on the JCW its a £1000 off for a cash sale take it or leave it .

Thats ok then i will leave it thats two cars now that CHANDLERS BRIGHTON havent managed to sell me cool as i said id never spend a penny there again .

My other man promised to get me a price buy today and its now nearly 11pm and nothing how hard can it be

WHO has used drive the deal to actually buy a car ?? .I thought both Chandlers/Sytner would be able to at least price match the dicounted price on DTD £1633 off a JCW with chili pack still £21280 for a JCW mini

I have used DtD. Back in 2001 I bought a Golf V5. Very good experience and recommended. Wouldn't it be ironic if the dealer they use is Chandlers Brighton!

DtD wont tell you who the main agent is until you have paid your deposit. They try and get one close to you but most are in the South UK (I think) but that was 8 years ago!

Sell the E90 private, rent a £200/pcm corsa etc in the interim then be a cash buyer on a new motor.

PX you always lose in some way
