I actually tried to do an install of the CXRacing one today.

Phail...

Got the bumper off what seemed like an eternity, PITA and so many bolts.

Then, some other parts, had some distractions/contractors I had to deal with...next, then I am looking at this shroud and the IC wondering how to remove them and cut them, get to the intercooler piping etc...the real heart of the install.

Needless to say, I put it all back together (surprisingly not losing one bolt and correctly I might add), and need to regroup.

I have ramps, but that are not real tall ones, so I was on my back in the garage. It would be nice to have a lift to deal with the underside, bolts, IC plumbing etc...

Then the shroud cutting, which to do right really requires the bumper support to be dropped out of the way..another hassle. That shroud is thick, there is a sense attached to it that needs to be relocated, and it is somehow attached to the car..mystery how it is attached.

Anyway...will regroup and think about what to do next to get it installed. I really didn't want to take it to have any labor/work done and do this on the cheap side...

OH well...anyone in Tampa got a lift and want to try this install!

My main issue is that I didn't want to deal with over seas shipping.
I'll also order the cx one in the near future.

Can anyone help me source a parts list to get the piping/couplers from?
siliconeintakes.com didn't seem to have the right bends.

^Thanks!
I found my old FMIC off my rx7,same dimensions but it's only 3inch deep instead of 4, but should work fine. Going to use that and save some money

Not yet...still in the box with couplers. Haven't had time to give it another shot. Really could use a lift.

Interesting thread with AIT's before and after the install:

All runs are on map 7

Ok, so first of all I went and made a few logs with the stock intercooler. This was 69* weather, 4th gear pull to redline. This was after doing some very light driving. The car WAS NOT heat soaked. Louisiana is hot during seasons like this, and humid. Heres the log.

Log 1

As you can see, the starting temp was around 80* on this run. It shows 90* because of the cut off, but it started at 79-80*. You cant see this, but youll just have to take my word for it I guess.

Log 2

Pretty much identical. The temps are getting into the 140s from 80*. So in 69* weather, my car increases its IATs from 80*-140*. Thats a 60* increase!!

Now onto the Big Tom Intercooler.
This run was done after a few other WOT runs, just to get the car REALLY heatsoaked, or at lease attempt to. This is my 2nd-4th gear pull. Map 7 again. Outside air temps at this point in time are 63*. 6* difference, big whoop.

I was pretty heatsoaked for this run. I did back to back runs just to give you guys the ABSOLUTE WORST scenario for heatsoak. You can see that it starts off around the same degree (80*), and only climbs to 110, and thats through 3 gears!!!

Heres my last pull, car had to be heatsoaked because i did multiple runs prior to this one.

Here you can see that i start out around 80* and dont go above 100*!!
Thats a 40* difference overall! Still the same temp outside, but the car had gone through multiple wot runs prior to this.

I think its safe to say that the BT Intercooler does indeed drop your IATs down significantly. Now as for the pressure loss, ive been logging and seen a slight increase in boost. Also, if you compare the graphs, you can see the the BT Intercoolers boost charts are much smoother than the boost charts from the stock IC.

Little notes of advice. When I installed this, i basically just used a 45* 3"-2.5" on the passenger side pipe and it bolted straight up, a little tight, but its in there. The Driver side just used a regular 2.5" coupler, and a 3"-2.5" reducer and went onto the stock pipe again. Trimming isnt that bad really, i mean if you are going back to stock and they take off your bumper they will noticed, but other than that its totally fine. I used 5 zip ties going through the IC and are supported on the rad support. Its in there, its not going anywhere.
Here's the link to the thread: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10503
...should quiet down some of the haters.

It's due to the increased height.

Mine is 18"x12"x4" = total core size 14170 cm3, which makes it 1806 cm3 bigger. Have that in mind.
something is wrong with your math becasue when I checked the link for the intercooler you bought it shows 450mm x 300mm x 102mm core size which is 45cmx30cmx10.2cm = 13770 cm^3

and the cx racing intercooler is 18" x 12" x 3.5" = 45.72cm x 30.48cm x 8.89cm = 12388 cm^3

which makes it only 1382 cm^3 bigger not 1806 cm^3 bigger, therefore the klracing IC is only 11% bigger than the ebay one.

Both the CX and KL cores has probably exactly the same dimensions except from the thickness.
I'm 100% sure they're produced in the same factory.

The reason for the dimension mismatch is that the numbers is rounded to the closest centimeter on KL racing's homepage.

So the only thing that differs is an ½ inch of thickness (and the in and outlets of course).

Just curious--what were the biggest factors you took into consideration on deciding this one.

bad news intercooler out of stock yesterday when i ordered it was in stock, strange that i got tracking number today and now i got email from petra that:

I am sorry to inform you that a colleague of mine just discovered that the intercooler you have order are out of stock.
According to the webshop when you ordered it was one left in stock, but that was unfortunately wrong. I am very sorry for that.
Is it possible with another size? Perhaps 450x350x102? It is 50mm higher.

Also ordered all parts for instalation www.do88.se of IC so this really not good.............

is it a sign that i ordered wrong IC maybe for me destiny was to order HPF ic
