for people who have an amp installed.

To have your amp installed to your factory deck did you have to use the LOC (high low convertors?)
and does it make a hissing noise when low volume is on? because my gf's mazda just recently got an amp and sub installed with the factory deck and it makes noise.

LOC? Yes.
Noise? No.
It could be a bunch of things...I would start by checking the ground for the amp and the placement of the RCA cables. Are the RCAs crossing over any power cables? Was this noise present without the amp/sub?

Noise usually is the result of improper level setting.

Noise often occurs when a low-voltage preamp signal (like in many Mazdas with Bose) is run through a transformer-based LOC with attenuation. The signal is attenuated needlessly, the gain must be turned up to hear music, and the hiss is then audible because (as kaigoss points out) the gain is too high.
