Thank you guys. Not changing the exterior of the 335 any further. I think the high kick spoilers look good on aggressive cars, but mine isn't going to have that look, so the factory spoiler will have to do. My perfect setup would just be a subtle lip spoiler like I had on my last 335.

I was just going to say I love the small lip spoilers on the 335's, it fits the car perfectly.

Just wondering was the m3 too much to drive? You said it was some serious hardware to drive to 2 hospitals in the woods with it. The F80 is supposed to be one of the easiest M cars ever made to drive.

Not at all. It's incredibly easy to drive. I raced mine all day at Spa in Belgium after we picked it up at the Welt. I meant it was some expensive hardware to just be using as a daily driving appliance. I wasn't using it for its intended purpose anymore, IMO. The 335 as you all know is an excellent DD. Off lease used it cost less than half of the M3 and came with a 100k warranty, so it was a no brainer.

Reminds me of my first 335 with the VMRs that I had on it. Exact same experience. Doesn't bother me, and now the factory wheels are perfect IMO. I hope they last better than the 4 sets of 19" aftermarket wheels I've had on my other 335s lol.

Flashed the car with MHD stage 1. Honestly, very little difference. There's a touch more midrange and up high to around 6k. Knew it was going to be subtle, but this isn't a race car and I'm not interested in running more boost until I have a suitable FMIC for the car. I also bought a BMS charge pipe for when I end up turning the boost up. My first car made it 50k miles without incident, but the second one blew it up at around 35k miles just running map 2 on the JB4.

Anyway, a few pictures.

A stage one tune isn't noticeable on a 335is. We have the 7 second overboost function from the factory that suppresses the usual difference noticed with upping the boost a few psi.

Great pick with the iS, OP. I've been giving these cars some serious second looks lately. Reminds me of the ZHP e46s of yore. Excellent combo from the factory with that DCT, as well.

Any tunes out there for the DCT, a la m3 GTS, or similar?

Not that I know of. To be honest, the DCT is fine the way it is. I'm not looking to do anything with this car but make it a bit OEM+. I have plenty of other cars if I'm looking for all out performance. I really enjoy how well put together this car is and how nicely the N54 sings with this exhaust. A couple well placed mods that keep things quiet and smooth, while making a bit more power is all I'm after here.

Oh yeah, I decided to flash the stage 1 fmic map. I don't have an FMIC yet (likely going with a Wagner) but I decided to supplement it with a couple gallons of E85 with each tank. The car loves it, and pulls very nicely. Smooth as silk also. I'm going to want that FMIC to keep IATs from getting ridiculous and it annoys me to see 125 deg temps in the logs, but I think other than that I might be done.

Fox-man.....noooo don't do it! LOL! Other than not being an IS the new ///M body style is kind squared off at sharper angles (especially the new ones) and pumped up looking - I guess which is the Mouis Operandi of the M car. Not sinister smooth 335i(s) cars (new M4 especially) - and I just cannot get past the aftermarket look of the display stuck on top in the middle of the dash rather than recessed into it (new ///M)- just my opinion. The ///M is the brute beast by all means but the IS a beautiful and limited beast within its own right and with an inexpensive tune even more so (if you are not an IS Purist). Ok, now I will wait for the H8 messages and 335is H8ers to pop out. As long as an M235i-er does not try to give an ///M thrashing I guess can take it!

Gotta love and respect the real ///M cars though. And have to go with what is "you" though. In my book can't go wring with either.

BTW 335is registry is back online after the owners of the company settled their disputes in court. They are working out the bugs now but you can pull it up.

Like all of us, I am constantly daydreaming about some car or other, and I've thought a fair bit about an "upgrade" to my 335is. Have considered E92 M3, F80 M3, M235, and Cayman or Boxster.

E92 M3 is a step up, but not enough to justify cost difference between a low mileage M and the hit on IS I already own outright. Moreover, I prefer the E92 M3 suspension, but love the 335IS torque. Also think the IS looks better.

Don't really care for the F80 at all.

Like M235, but not as much as 335IS. Would like even more with hydraulic steering and 250 fewer lbs.

Really like the Cayman. If I didn't already own the IS, I would give it serious consideration. However, don't think I would pay the premium to "trade-up".

So...., I have decided to keep my IS and buy a low mileage Boxster S. I think the Boxster is a great complement to the IS. I'll get a stick to complement the DCT in my IS (miss having a stick). I love the mid-engine handling and 3,000 lb curb weight. I don't know if I would want a drop-top for a daily, but it sounds perfect for a 2nd car. Also like the contrast of the naturally aspirated Boxster with my turbo IS. Both sound amazing with performance exhaust. Lastly, the Boxster's combination of light weight, razor sharp handling, engaging stick shift, instantly responsive naturally aspirated engine, enough power to have fun with in the city without getting into overkill (F80 M3), and top down driving translate into a car that makes even routine city drives an event. Shopping hard now and hope to land one within a few weeks
