I'm just wondering how many others cars out there 3.0L and smaller can run in the 11's at around 120mph with the stock turbos, no LSD, stock engine internals, stock injectors? And in my case with stock: mufflers, cats, intake, intercooler, etc.

holy crap--give Bob a break for g- sake. He is saying that on the street--very few cars can hang with him stop light to stoplight. AND HE IS DEAD ON WITH THAT. He is on the street in track form--what he is saying is that most superfast cars out there can't get traction on the street. He is right!

I take my 335XI to the track in the states all the time--6 times this year already and at three diff tracks in michigan- ohio. The only thing I add is race gas.

In approximately 50 runs (got 21 in one day) in the 1/4--it finished first like 45 times (including several runs next to my 09 CTS-V which ran 12.3). Of the few it didn't finish first, several of them were Drag cars not street cars, and the others were street cars running DRs--in other words--nothing you would ever see on the street.

There was only one match up against an Evo- and it was close--but 12.08 vs 12.3 to the BMW. Then there was A supercharged Monte Carlo on DRs running 11s, but he got hole shotted by the BMW and got spanked.

I think I agree with Bob--I don't take my Xi to the track to drag race--but rather to establish times. But in that process--it rarely finishes second-even agains cars you would think it would. It is often the talk of the track--people are shocked by it. They expect and evo to run 11s but most don't expect it from a quiet, understated loooking BMW Xi. And playing around here in metro detroit is not only accepted--its expected if your taliking about little stop light take offs. I have never lost in this car-and the list of victims includes ZR1 vette--numerous M5s , grand Cherokee srt8, and various other cars that WOULd kill it from a roll or on a 1/4 mile track. Thats the point---

Great stuff Bob!! love the vids. Can't wait to see your 11 sec time slip in the 1/4 by the way. I threw 1.3 JB3 on yesterday and will go saturday to see if I can improve on my 11.9.

No offense, but you say that cause you fear losing from a roll.
And plenty of tracks race from rolls, it's called, all of them except drag strips.
The point of someone asking an AWD owner to go from a roll is simple:
the AWD car has the advantage in a short race from a stop, but RWD or FWD has the advantage from a roll. So to be fair, you need to be willing to do both.

On any track except a drag strip, there are hundreds of not thousands of races going on from a roll (the whole race) but there's only 1 from a stop (the beginning of the race).

Don't knock rolling races.

I also agree with the above post.
I had AWD cars and one that can trap 116-117 mph in the 1/4 mile would be a beast in the 1/8th mile on most tracks and especially on the street.
BobVader had a legit comment.
But as I've said to him before, I don't really like 1/8th mile "races" anyway. They're more like brief sprints. Kinda like a 40 yard/meter dash. But they are owned by AWD cars so that's why AWD car owners love them.

well said. I LOVE going from a roll in this car--no disadvantage that I can see. Just an adantage from a dig against a RWD.

True.....

I thought that I was under cover with my S4's....but this thing with Dinan original tune (384/421)....has brought down many big V8's....and dare I say M3's....of all types.

All for 52k with warranty.

very true. But most of those guys are not willing to warm the tires with a big burnout--on the street. And even if you do--what 60ft times are you getting with those DRs?

90% of the cars I beat in th 1/4 ARE on DRs. Trust me--I know what its like to be on the wrong end of that--I have lined up my 09 CTS-V (street tires) next to my 335Xi (wiht my girl-who is wicked good driver) in it. Haven't beaten the 335 yet--came close with a 12.3 to 12.3 couple times.

Now I have walked it on the freeway-- But if I see an 09 CTS-V at a stoplight thatwants to play--and I am in my 335xi--I know it will be easy pickins.

< $400 for a tune that transforms the car for an extra ~80whp is the definition of bang for the buck.

What other mod do you know for that price/whp point?

I don't know what your DA is out there in That part of the country--but if you happen to get a day at the track with decent DA--I am going to guess 11s. Not to put any pressure on you....
