Lux H8 V3 Angel Eye Review

I purchased a set of angel eyes and installed them today. I went with Lux because of the many reviews on this Board.

Impressions:

1) Inside lights are perfect in color and brightness.
2) Outside lights are very different with regard to brightness and color. It is actually hard to tell they are even on. Please see my picture below. It seems the factory outside lights are brighter but are a more yellow in color.
3) Installation took 30 minutes because there was little room to work with. The process was quite simple.
4) I expected more based on cost. I'm shocked this is one of the best options we have.

Pictures:
1) Picture of product pre installation
2) Comparision of stock AE (passenger side) and LUX (driver's side)
3) Lux installed on both sides, in direct sunlight on a cloudy day.

I'm thinking about getting these but just not completely sure yet. I have to see them in real life. In pics it looks like the original AEs are still brighter

I would agree with you. I wish I knew this before I purchased them. I was initially hoping I just got a bad set. Your experience tells me this is common.

I just purchased these for $83.49 off ebay (link for BradZditosky's review). Looking at your daytime picture there isn't a real noticeable difference, though I have read that Lux are brighter. If I run into problems Ill go lux but I am a real happy camper right now.

Unfortunately no product but a complete AE replacement will give you the affect we're all looking for. It's not the bulbs, it's a poor design by BMW having one bulb light up two rings.

I'll tell you one things for sure I have been reading this site up and down left and right day and night.....I come to the conclusion that tomorrow morning I'm ordering mtec v4 pre lci e90 from sonic tuning....I'm sold on the v3 mtec but now they put out v4 a few days ago n these have gotta be twice as bright and the v3 already beat out the lux in brightness....I hate the fact that I'm supporting a jap mtec company over an American guy trying to do the right thing by making the Lux eyes but a better product at a cheaper price I have to do it, I'll be mad after if I didn't

this review makes me sad. The lux were my hope, but seeing the outside rings not very lit up isn't making me happy.

The mtechs were my second choice. I thought since the Lux's were always sold out that they would be amazing. Later in the day it became sunny and I honestly couldn't tell they were even on. I may sell these and buy the mtechs. They certainly couldn't be any worse.

There is a minor difference between the sedan and coupe correct?

Im starting to think the only solution is the ring replacements. No reason to bother with the bulbs

I doubt the mtecs will be any worse. I would like to see how the new (v.4) compare to the (V.3) Lux.

Also, I keep waiting for a sunny day to take pics but the weather has been terrible. I honestly don't think you can tell they are on in direct sun light.

Or, you all could look at AlpineMSS's HID kit. I love mine. I havent noticed any 'yellowing' that many people talk about, even after a year of use.
Mines solid inner/outer, simply because they are so bright. i think it looks great and i love it Plus, they cost a fraction of LUXs kit.

I have read somewhere about alpine ae melting, dunno howmuch of that is true. There was a comparison thread regarding the lux vs mtech & the lux looked good so this is shocking..

Mines been running fine. Not sure how it could have melted unless you zip-tied the ballasts and cables in really bad areas?

I have the lux and at night i am very happy with them, but then the sun rises... If I had to do it over I would probably go for the mtech just because of the price. I haven't had any problems with my lux though.

Anybody look into retrofitting the bulbs from an F10 or F30? Wouldn't it just be the connector and housing? I am sure I am oversimplifying this but thought I would ask.

Simply, I'm sure it can be done. But just imaging the process, I'm sure we'd be ripping our hair out by the end of it lol
