How to back up songs in your car?

So I have a bunch of songs in my car's hard drive that I no longer have in my computer. I tried the export songs function and notice the songs comes back to my usb drive as .BR4 files and not the original mp3 files that I imported back into the car. Question is how do I convert them back to mp3s?

The funny thing is when I try to import these songs back to my car (the .br4 files) along with other mp3s and my car only picked up the mp3 songs and completely ignored the .br4 files.

So what good is the export function the car offers? It doesn't even read the files it exports back out to and I have no idea how to convert them back to mp3s. Does anyone know how to successfully back up songs out of the car?

The car adds a header to the MP3 file and names it a BR4 file. I imagine this is so that people can't copy MP3s from any car. There was a program posted a while ago that would remove the header from the BR4 file and rename it to an MP3 file.
