COBB Accessport Stage 1 a stock 335i
I was searching and would really like to hear some input from people running the COBB tune on their otherwise stock car.
I don't plan on modding my car beyond a tune that a stock car can handle, and a Limited slip diff after my warranty expires. My dad has the Dinan Stage 2 tune on his n55 335i, it is very smooth and the difference is very noticeable from stock. Anyone here had the chance to compare the Dinan Stage 2 with the COBB AP Stage 1 on stock cars? Thanks |

COBB stage 1 is a definitely noticeable over stock (sport, more so on aggressive). > Dinan S2

IMO, the COBB tune has the smoothest power delivery, especially with the Stock Throttle Mapping = Identical to OEM Setup w/ a lot more power.

Also OP, looks like you live in Miami & have access to 93 octane so you can run the Aggressive tune setting. PLEASE Data Log your car before you flash & forget to make sure that the car is running happy (NO timing corrections, hitting proper AFRs + Boost, etc)

marv and mump thanks for the input.
Initially I was considering the JB+ for a simple power boost due to me wanting to keep it well, simple and as stock as possible. But from the research I read I think the Cobb will be worth the money being a full blown tune that is simple and requires no physical mods in engine bay etc. Btw benzy, I'm moving to Atlanta next month, don't know about the gas there. |

Search the ATL for some E85. You'll love it!

What do you mean choppy? The car is bogging, doesn't accelerate smooth? Do you still have it installed or you removed it? I was pretty set on ordering this tomorrow until your post. |

Prob talking about boost oscillations, it can get fixed. Some cars ROMs get boost oscillations & you can get COBB to fix it. |

If I have a ROM that needs COBB to modify it, is that a complicated process? I want the least amount of headache, and don't want to be with tech support just to get something working or risk causing my car to run un-smoothly. That's why the JB+ seemed nice to me, but I am still leaning towards the COBB. |

I use IJE0S & have never had an issues with Boost Oscillations (even when using the Beta Maps). Boost Oscillations can easily be overcome by using an Older Version of the Same Map or getting COBB to email you a revision (just like get a custom E-Tune). You also have to remember the only time I've ever heard of problems, it wasn't on the approved/officially released maps. I can promise you that the JB+ is a waste of money & will force you to make additional investments in the future if you continue to mod (JB+ basically adds a max of 5 psi, which only makes sense having on a stock car). I can promise out of all the majors, COBB & JB4 have the best customer service so don't worry about getting abandoned by the tuner. IMO COBB is the least headache causing tune. Not only are their tunes bulletproof, but it's the easiest to Data Log & read Fault Codes with because of the AccessPORT. If you have any additional questions, you're welcome to PM me. |

09 auto XI. Hard acceleration is not smooth. Like the car is fighting itself. Going to log and send in to Cobb. They do have good customer service. I would still recommend Cobb over anything else!

Thanks benzy, going to order a COBB today hopefully.
I just remembered Dinan told me before the n55 stage2 software was installed, that their software also increases the water pump RPM to circulate more fluid and provide better cooling. Does the COBB AP also do that? And is the M-Sport intercooler the same intercooler of a regular 335i? |

It sounds like you're looking to go Tune, Intake & FMIC for Stage 1+ (?). The OEM FMIC is the same on every car, from the non-M sport 335s to the 335is. If you're planning on adding Meth, I'd recommend a traditional 5" FMIC (AA, ETS or ER) because you want to avoid pressure drops with an FMIC. IF you're not going to use Meth, I'd recommend the Helix FMIC (#1 IMHO, also has lots of supporting data to back that claim). Regardless, any FMIC will be a significant upgrade over the OEM IC. Intakes, save your money and buy the BMS DCI. If you want something that looks a little better in the engine bay, go with the aFe DCIs or Injen DCI. |
