I moved her recently from Charlotte, so I don' t know any local shop's rep, but I can say that the skill of the installer is as, if not more important than the quality of the film. Make sure you find some references, and see their work. Especially if your car has some features that are hard to do. (Such as my 335i e92 has the black dots along the border, which keep the film from lying totally flat and if done wrong can look pretty bad).

Also, even tho the NC law says no tinting in the front, I put 3M nano-ceramic UV & IR blocking film on my front. It's almost clear, but keeps the inside black interior from getting any hotter than hot. (I remember having a car with a dark brown interior that I use to have to keep a hand-towel for wrapping over the wheel to keep my hands from being burnt - not any more!). Since this film was sold as a heat blocker, not a tint, I was told it was legal. Also, my shop had just put it on about 10 Meck county cop cars, so that's pretty good proof too!

Front tint is legal in NC. However, there is a limitation on how far down it can go.

Hey. From Chapel Hill and new to the forum. I was just reading about the window tint and thought I would suggest Sun Protection in Cary if anyone is interested. I've had them do a few of my cars and always had great service. I just had my e90 tinted there a few weeks ago. tarheel 325, did you get the blacklines installed yet? If so do you have a pic?

CHe90, I'm at halfway right now - trunk blacklines, stock sides - I don't have my torque wrench at my apt. Where in CH are you?
Also, how much did Sun Protection cost? I read good reviews of the Suntek place in Morrisville as well so I can cross-check...

Window Tinting in Wake Forest

Hello all, I live in Rolesville NC. I just purchased a MY08 335i from Leith, Alpine White. I will be getting my windows tinted from Car Audio and Security in Wake Forest 919-562-0800.

I sold my 2007 WRX STi Ltd for the 335 and will be getting my tint done on Tuesday (1 Sept 09) from the same guy. He did an excellent job on the STi so I'm going back. He charges $245.00 and has a life time warranty.

If you would like I will post pics, before and after?

I'll be in NC area for about a week, visiting my sister who lives in Kernersville. I have yet to see any E90s in the area. Otherwise, I live in MN

Hey all. New member from Chapel Hill.

Are you guys happy with our recent tint jobs? I'm looking to have my Alpine White 335 done. I had a tint disaster many years ago on a different BMW that I owned and want to find a really good shop to do this one.

Also, anyone close running a JB3? I'm thinking of adding one.

Hey L, Im in CH and run the JB3. I'd also recommend the DCI. Even though the DCI was more of a pain for me to install than the JB3. If you have any questions just let me know.

What do you do when you take it in for service? Do you uninstall? How's the 'around town' feel? What map do you find works for you? I work from home and don't spend too much time on the highway. I'm up and down erwin rd and Mt Sinai alot and like to do weekend back road tours.

I've only had regular service done and just left it in. My warranty just ran out so it doesn't matter now. I run map 3. Sometimes I'll just set it back to map 0 for a few days.
