Well, the E90 is going...

After 2.5 years of mixed enjoyment of ownership, I finally decided to change the E90.
A few things needed doing like servicing / tyres etc and I think it's got a failing injector (occasional wobbly idle when warm - cloud of smoke on startup) and possibly thermostat(s) as the fuel consumption has been pants recently (i know it's been cold but still, 35mpg on a decent run..).
Also got a bit fed up of the crashy ride and heavy steering - must be getting old!!
Couldn't really make my mind up what to get, but it needed to be diesel and practical, don't need a big car so thought about going to a hatch.
Looked at Golf GTD and A3's but for my budget wasn't impressed with what I'd get.
Sooo, I've gone for a bit of a 'marmite' car...

Not to everybody's taste, but I like them.
1 year old 118d Sport under 8k miles with driver comfort and sun protection packages in Sapphire Black.
Comes with iDrive / bluetooth / USB and drives really smooth plus I got 60mpg on a decent mixed roads test drive.

Not quite in the same bracket as some as you chaps new cars () but a couple of years of hopefully economical driving might allow something more 'fun' a bit further down the line.

Might post up a few pics when I've got it, if anyone is interested...

Oh, and I've never had a black car - everyone I've spoken to so far thinks I'm mad.

Nice one, and black isn't so bad. Not driven the new 1 series, but my 120d was a good car, plenty of poke and very economical ..... I should have kept it and saved myself a lot of money leasing a 640d that I don't drive!

And don't be shy, post some pics up and a review when you get the chance.

I like the new 1er. Been in TMP's 135i a few times and, whilst there is obviously a difference in bhp, the interior & exterior are similar - a very nice grown-up place to be. Bet you'll enjoy ownership.

I never liked the look of the old 1 sieres much in anything but 1M form.
However, the new 1 sieres I think looks fantastic!
The intieor looks very good too, and I think is the biggest improvement!

Be interested to hear your thoughts once you have it. Esp how you find the boot space / rear seat space in comparison to the e90.

Welcome to the f20 club. Quite a few exe90 posters seem to be joining.

I've been meaning to do a micro review of mine for the last 3 months.

The old one series is just an e46 that got squashed.

Well, the DVLA finally came through (plate transfer) and I'm due to collect at 12:00pm tomorrow.
Unfortunately I've got a stinking cold now, so the grills etc I already have sat in the garage may have to wait a bit...

Hi Ben (who's Mark...? )
Thanks and I too hope it's a lot less trouble!
Never had a black plate but mine are euro-look..ish.
I've kept them but not sure whether to put them on the 1er or not - will probably try them one day.
Liking your Jag and might need some tips on cleaning black cars...

Peter.

sorry i got your name mixed up with the other bloke from Stafford

best tip for cleaning black cars is not to drive them and put them in the garage mine had a good clean, polish and gloss recently and it was looking dirty after 50 miles in the dry

Enjoy your pick up and post some pics when it is here
