Did you also consider a 1 before you bought your 3?

I considered the 135i E82 very seriously. In fact, I went back and forth between it and the 335i E92 for a couple of years before making a decision. Since I have always had two cars since the 1980's and my spouse has a car too, there was no need to hurry on the decision.
While I really liked the performance of the 135i and came very close to purchasing one, I did not like the "sagging belly" line in the side view. I like it from the other views and found no problems with the interior which “fit” me very well. But when I put them side-by-side, the styling of the E92 with the M package won me over. I am extremely happy with my E92 and I still think the 135i E82 is a great car. I would certainly consider the 2er or whatever it is in the future if I ever decide to part with my E92.

Depending on what is your need I like my E82 is compact lighter than E92 and handle well, if you want more space then settle on a 3er. I had E82 & E93 they both great cars to drive but 1er is a bit mimble IMO, go try for yourself and see for yourself.

Nope wasn't even out yet. The XI on the e90 wasn't out yet nor the 335i. I don't even recall the coupes even being out. I bought mine in 05 of July.

I considered the 135i, i liked the size but was put off by the looks. I also decided I needed AWD, plus the HPFP issue was a concern.
I didn't like the F30 (ugly, too big imo) so looked at the 328xi and 335xi E92s eventually deciding on the 328xi. It's a nice mix of luxury and sport and fast enough for my daily commute. I probably would have gone for the 335xi but for worries about HPFP failure (my commute is 90% highway and reading reports for cars going limp in the left lane was scary) and concerns over long term ownership cost. |

Considered the M3 E93 but would have to wait a good while and I wanted the hardtop convertible. Already have an M3/4 so got the 335 which has been an excellent ride after 55K miles...

I had a 135 for 3 years and recently turned it in on lease for a 335is. I loved driving my 1, but it was a bit more raw and less refined than the 3. Plus, the interior was kind of cheap in the 1. So though i loved the 1, i think the 3 is a better all around car and is still a blast to drive when i rip on it.
