repoduction alloy recomendations

Who makes the best quality repoduction bmw alloys looking for a set of MV3's for my 335i and 208M's for the 123D. I'm going to put winter tyres on them and whant the car to look standard but not cost a fortune I decided not to buy second hand as have already tried that route and they turned up totally not as described. Hope you have some good suggestions

Repro will never be as good quality as genuine. Insurance co's also like to charge more for aftermarket alloys..

But then again I'm sure you know this. And if you could find a decent set for the right price things would be simple.

Yes the suggestions are as follows:

1. purchase second hand originals and have them refurbed. If they are MV3's you might need to have them resolve any cracks which will result in loss of air issues. ( not sure if I have heard about the 1 series wheels cracking before. I doubt it). Excellent work can be carried out by Lepsons or Wheel Works. Both of whom are well respected in their fields.

2. Speak to either Mark at BM autosport or Chris of ********. Both are well known within the BM community and many forums members and friends alike have bought from them ( myself repeatedly). They will be able to supply you new reps in OEM colour finish or a set of genuine used wheels which may have been refurbished and there will be ready for mounting tires.

Good luck Chuck.
Regards.

Hi Phil thanks for the reply I was wondering if a decent repo might be better than a genuine bmw alloy, they do seem to crack alot.

AP thanks for your suggestion I will try them
Mark at BM autosport or Chris of ********.

Do MV3 suffer cracking? I though cracking was only a significant issue on the 19" MV4??

Anyway, I bought rep MV3 for winters from wheelworx.net for £300 for four a couple of years ago.

Despite my concerns about paint finish they have lasted 3 winters without a mark (where the factory wheels were bubbling at the centre bore after the first winter) and the paint finish is a nicer brighter silver than the BMW MV3.

Also, when I asked there was no insurance cost as they are the same size / style as originals, but of course this may be insurance company dependant.

I can definitely recommend Chris at CM Wheels. He sorted me out with these beauties, and the quality is great. Made in Italy I think.
