iPhone won't play music with 2007 335i
Hey everyone, first post - here goes. I have a 2007 335i with an iPhone 3G. I can get everything to work no problem including bluetooth and charging, but I can't get the iPod to play music. I'm basically using the standard iPhone cable and plugging into the USB port that is inside the arm rest between the two from seats. I do not have the ability to plug the iPhone directly into a cable that is already attached to the car. Has anyone been able to get it to work? Thanks!

The USB only provides power and browsing functionality, I believe. For audio, you have to have it plugged into the AUX port in the same location. Use this cable for both:

So, to confirm, with that cable, you can hear the music through your system, but also control it through i-drive?

The I-Drive in that series doesn't support the Iphone. It will work with an Ipod but there a subtle changes to the format of the iphone stops the BMW I-Drive system from recognizing the Iphone. Only the LCI I Drive can view the Iphone music database.
