335i sedan lowered, now vibrations galore! help!

Well, had my car lowered on h&r sport springs, which happened to absolutly CAN the car... looks good, but a PITA going over bumps etc. Any how had the car aligned, toe, camber etc fixed. Since the car was lowered, there is an odd vibration that occurs when accelerating promptly at any speed. Seems like its comming from the front end, but I could be wrong on that... The tech who did the alignment says because the car got lowered so much, its the driveshaft angle thats causing the vibrations, and nothing can be done about it...????

any thoughts? anyone else have these problems?

ive never heard of that...It only happens when a massive change in height occurs like big trucks that jack up their trucks have a significant change in drive angle.

+1, I think the tech just doesn't know how to align your car right.

No way it's the driveshaft angle. The differential and transmission are not lowered by the springs, it's simply the control arms. Big lifted trucks that are using blocks have driveshaft angle problems since the transmission is lifted upwards while the differential remains low.

Hard to say what it is, but try getting alignment elsewhere first.

Man this sucks, hes also telling me as far as the alignment goes, the toe, camber etc is all adjusted, and in some cases maxed out, since there isnt much room to play with?

The shop is required to provide a print-out that displays before and after specs of the alignment. Can you share that with us?

Stop going to that shop, go to another one. It's pretty obvious by now that they are not all that competent.

Are you running stock wheels? If not it might be the gap on the hub. Some wheels come with 73 mm hub fitment when a BMW is 72 mm. BMW are hub-centric so if there is a slight gap between the wheel and hub it will vibrate at high speeds and when hitting bumps! You may need to get a sleeve to fix this.

Only live axle cars have drive shaft angle problems when lowered to the extreme. My Volvo 740 did that when i lowered it .... jesus.. 12 years ago!
