My 2011 E90 Alpine White M Sport

Hey everyone! Decided to share my progress with everyone as I am now embarking on my second BMW ownership. Have a few turbo cars under my belt-‘95 Eclipse GST, ‘03 WRX, ‘04 STI, ‘89 Mustang 306ci Single Turbo, ‘04 Forester XT, ‘08 E92 335i and now this beautiful ’11 E90 LCI M Sport. Found my ’11 on craigslist with a horrible add. Seller didn’t even know it was an M Sport! He claimed it was a twin turbo; I wasn’t going to break his heart. Purchased the car completely stock with active service plan and CPO warranty w/ 61K on the clock. Pulled the carfax and showed delivery in California but somehow made it to Alabama. My wife told me she was pregnant a week before I had my E92 delivered from NY. I knew it was going to be short lived but didn’t know I’d fall in love with this platform. It’s luxury, style, comfort, speed, all in one. I understand the N55 falls behind the N54 but give it time .

It’s not perfect by any means; car looks like it’s been through a thousand drive thru car washes so paint restoration will be in the near future. I had to replace the battery immediately upon purchase (thank you Carly App!) and give it a good interior detail.

So, first things first, new tires; I’ve had PSS, Bridgestone Potenza’s and RE-11’s. My last set were Continental DW Extreme Contact, for the price and drivability you can’t beat them! They are sticky enough to make some drag passes and comfortable enough for Alabama back roads. I decided I wasn’t going to step up to 19’s in the future so I went with a tire combination that will compliment future wheel setup. I went with 245/40 up front and 265/35 in the rear. Definitely meatier.. I’m currently awaiting a set of Apex ARC-8’s from the recent group buy; middle of May can’t come soon enough.

Car was looking too stock. Black grilles, 35% tint, LUX AE’s, GP 7500 Fog’s and carbon emblems! Honest opinions on the “M” emblem please!

I got a great deal on the car because of the necessary maintenance that was coming up and this…. Luckily I found a replacement AW LCI trunk locally on the low. Still debating whether to install the M3 spoiler or sell.

Car was too slow.. JB4 Stage 2 ISO!! Install is fairly simple. I was able to use a fish wire to pull the USB cable thru the firewall by removing only the kick panel behind the glove box. This only works for E90; I believe you have to remove the glove box for an E92.

I came across another craigslist find. Brand new 7” VRSF FMIC, BMS Intake, BMS Oil Catch Can, VRSF Charge Pipe and used VRSF Catless DP. Deal was incredible, the guy was in a tough spot and needed the money. I love those kinds of deals. I went ahead and installed the intake and charge pipe for safe measure. You hear these stock charge pipes blowing off all the time. Really didn’t expect to go out and buy a new mounting screw though. Turbo noises… mmm…

Signed up for my first AutoX! If you haven’t participated, get out there! I haven’t had this much legal fun in a long time. I did pretty decent if I might say, Conti DW’s held up just fine! I had a good bit of under steer so I’ll have to address that. Still had a faster raw time than my buddy’s EVO w/ Cobb AP and Eibach Pro Kit Springs.

Thanks for looking! I definitely have the bug with this car; I foresee suspension and turbo upgrade in the future!

Thanks for the honesty. I've been trying to justify it for a while. Time for it to come off.

Car looks awesome minus the M badge. Scrap that and if you do replace it with something (which I wouldn't), make sure it's way smaller as that size is overbearing.

Thanks for the love on this nearly stock vehicle. It'll get the badge taken off as soon as I get it back from a full paint correction and interior detail! It needed it in a bad way.

Got the car back from the detailer. Night and day difference. There are still some scratches that he's going to attempt to remove with different pad combinations.

As requested! No more M badge. Makes for a nice desk piece.

Solid update and great car! Not sure why people wouldn't like the N55. It's reliable and puts out solid power! I am more than happy with mine. The JB4 and downpipe really transform the car as well. Look forward to your future mods...what are the plans?

I've been more than pleased with the N55. Throttle response and torque are spot on. I've had a FBO E92 w/meth; the N55 does lack at the top end. Other that it's a fun and reliable daily.

I have some time off next week so I'm going to install the intercooler and PPK flash. The downpipe Will have to wait until I have more time. I also ordered the top windshield seal. This is a California car so it's just rotted away.

Finally had some time as I'm feeling a little better from my tonsillectomy (avoid this procedure at all cost!) last week. Can't believe how fast these top windshield seals rot away on the E90's. There are plenty of DIY's out there; quick, cheap and easy job.

Realized nobody was going to give me more than 100 bucks for my M3 spoiler so decided to re-install it.

Here's a nice angle of the detail work I got done.

Once things at work calm down and I'm fully recovered I'm going to knock out the downpipe and intercooler.

Looks really good. Honestly would appreciate any detail on reinstalling that windshield seal. I had the impression I had to pull off the glass.

Nope, I lifted up on the rain gutter trim on one side, clamped on the old seal with a set of pliers and peeled off the old seal. You spend more time cleaning the area than installing it. I used a spray auto detailer followed by a paint safe adhesive remover. Remove as much old debri from between the windshield and roof; slide in one side new seal in between the windshield and roof. Smack the rest of the seal to set in place.

Yup, this thing hauls me to work, daycare, autocross and dragstrip. Nice wheels, FBO and E85 is probably where it will end. MAYBE! Pure Stage ?? Turbo. That's undecided.
