Is there a plug & play AMP without giving up a kidney?

As the title reads, I'm looking for a plug & play AMP for my E90 LCI with HiFi setup.

I'm aware of Bimmertech Alpha One, but it's more than $1200 US ~= $1500 CAD.
That's too steep. I know some will say $1000 spent on audio is nothing, but it is too much for me.

Are there any other alternatives that would just plug into the existing AMP harness in the trunk without running wires all over the car and replacing speakers?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any guides or more info on the install?
I tried to search for it but there are multiple models and not sure which one I should focus on. Thanks.

you need to look for at least 6 output channels models, this will allow to keep all factory capabilities and in the same time give you more power.

Any 6 channel amp that has reasonable specs and preferably that accepts
differential Inputs and a Technic Hi Fi amp harness adapter.
The amp is the weakest part of the system however the speakers aren't
that far behind especially the under seats.

Thanks. I'll do some more reading.

It's interesting that in my 2006 325i I had an equaliser on the headunit yet on my 2011 328i I don't!

My understanding the equaliser presence would mean it was a Top Hifi while my 2011 has HiFi only?

What prevents swapping out the HiFi AMP for a Top HiFi AMP and coding the car accordingly to enable the equaliser?

I don't listen to music at max or near max volume, but it just sounds very poor quality and I did try to play music though the USB and it sounded the same poor quality.

The wiring is totally different .
9 physical channel on the Logic 7 with 9 speaker locations.
6 physical channels on the Hi Fi with 6 speaker locations.
Totally different amp connectors .
No analog signals from the Head unit to the Trunk with Logic 7
only the Most Bus signal goes between the Head Unit and Amp
with Logic 7 .
The Hi Fi amp is a simple analog amp with no digital signal Input
via the Most Bus. (Or digital signal processing)

BMW did not program the Head Unit to have an equalizer for Hi Fi .
Nobody has ever been able or tried to go around this while I have been
here.

I see, appreciate your input. It's shame that my 2006 325i with no nav had a better sound system than my 2011 328i and also no nav!

Logic 7 might be better but it's not a great stereo.

I had the bimmertech pp86dsp and wasn't even a tiny bit impressed. Sold it and was pleasantly surprised, I almost think the basic hifi sounds better. I'd skip that and similar options and get a JL XD600/6 and speakers of your choice.

I see it available here for $1000+ CAD then add shipping, and then aftermarket speakers and I'm looking at close to $2000 if not more!

Since I can't justify such spending -I was hoping for a $200 - $250 solution- I bought a system-wide 10 band equiliser app for my Android. Will play with that and see if I can slightly improve the sound.

I'll report back on the experience and findings.

Match up7 is worth it, if you are willing to put in the time and effort to tune it. And if you have the critical listening skill to do it and appreciate it.

Had one and sws8xi on my old f31 replacing the 676 amp, and it was SQ comp capable. But I had 25-30 hours of tuning time in it.

Think about it, It’s a helix dsp.

If you grew up listening to mp3s, streaming, Bluetooth, earbuds AirPods and soundbars as your frame of reference, you would not appreciate it or need it.

My old demo was to switch back to the Fischer limousine profile which was already better than stock amp and people thought it sounded “pretty good” then load my tune and all the rear sound disappeared, everything snapped into place on the dash, got “clearer and cleaner”, bass started coming out of the dash, etc. They’d be slackjawed as if they’d never heard a good home stereo in a sound deadened room before.

The combo is worth every penny, but the investment isn’t worth it for average people and that is perfectly ok too! My wife is one of those, “it sounds good, it sounds better, I like a better than b but I cant tell you why and if they weren’t back to back I honestly wouldn’t notice the difference” people.

But when it comes to super detail cleaning a bathroom or kitchen and she notices immediately and I can’t really tell. So I get it.

Happy to say the simple equaliser app is good for now. I can keep playing with it until I find a good setup.

If anyone can recommend an equaliser curve setup, please let me know. That would be appreciated.
