Amazon Camber Kit

Hey all,

I need a camber kit for my e92 335i. I got new tires installed and all wheel alignment done back in November, and I just noticed my rear tires are showing threads again on the inner tire. The tech told me they adjusted the cam bolts to the point where they could get the most adjustment out of them, but they were still pretty negative (can’t remember the numbers). He advised that if I have inner wear again that I should buy a camber kit. So I guess it’s that time.

I found these on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00RV...TF8&th=1&psc=1

Any reason I should not buy them? I don’t drive my car too hard, and do not do any tracking. Just want to fix the camber issue. Other than maybe having not high quality joints, would there be any other weaknesses to these inexpensive arms?

Also, is excessive wear on the rear tires normal for these cars? I’m already down to about 30%, in 5 months!

TIA

Why don't you post the alignment sheet for us to see the numbers but probably rear toe is what is destroying your tires, not camber.

Did they adjust the toe with the camber? Or did they just adjust camber as requested? The adjustments interact. And they really need to be done with the car loaded with passenger-equivalent weight.

Sorry, I don’t keep the sheet. That’s shitty on my part!

Pete, I just asked for all wheel alignment, I didn’t specify on just camber.

I’ll dig the glove box to see if I still the the papers.

Lol is right. And they seem so proud. It’s as if the negative camber has been out to get them, but damn if they didn’t finally win!

It would help to see your alignment sheet so try and get it and post it when you do. As for those arms they are for BMW M3 not sure what you have but I have been running the Megan rear camber arms and toe arms for a number of years on my e90 and they haven't given me any problems. I don't know how much camber you are looking to put on your car but I suggest you get the matching toe arms as well to keep the car within specs. With these arms I have been running max camber in the rear -10 and with the adjustable toe arms I am still within specs.

If all you do is highway mileage 0* camber and slight toe-in is fine

The problem with the arms you post is quality control. The casting is poor and not always 100% straight. The boot on the ball joint is very loose and dirt will get in. They are also pretty damn heavy. They work as advertised though... An adjustable arm is not a very complicated thing.

The m3 camber arms are the same as stock. The m3 toe arms will not work though.

Totally unrelated, but FYI:
(ALT + 0176) is the degree symbol (°)

also

(ALT + 0216) is diameter (Ø)
(ALT + 0177) is plus/minus (±)

Years of working in manufacturing has drilled these shortcuts into my head c:

I ended up buying the kit just to see if it’ll fix my issue. Attached is the alignment sheet along with pics of tire wear. The camber is only -1.6. Should I be seeing this kind of wear from that?

Absolutely with +0.20 rear toe on both wheels.
Was this recent? Invoice shows 2009. Ask shop to buy you new rear tires.
Even with aftermarket toe arms if set at +0.20 the outcome will be the same.
Try from -0.05 to +0.05

Ah I see. So the toe is causing that? Maybe that’s what they couldn’t get to zero out? I thought he said camber, but he may have said overall adjustment. Which arms do I need to replace with adjustable ones to fix the issue?

Also, is the camber ok to have at at 1.6? If so, I’ll keep the stock arms for that.

Thank you.

It is the toe that is destroying the tires not the camber. Just look at the paper again. Is illustrated. Where is says 0.40. Many shops do it wrong because the reading for front and rear is reversed/backwards.

So according to them that tolerance is normal for BMWs? The sheet even shows 0.15 being the center. They suggested it could be the shocks or even bad bushings in the arms. This is interesting.

Yes, yes....interesting, maybe? Not to you at least because you need to pay for new tires. Post #12, last sentence. Request that. Shock or bushing huh? How about you tell them learn alignment basics.

You need to find a shop that doesn't have its head up its ass. That's about the nicest thing I can say about 'em.

Yeah it’s interesting because they’re a reputable shop and some of them actually drive bmw’s, and they specialize in Mini’s.
Unfortunately I’m not the one to argue with a shop, because I don’t have sufficient facts. So I guess once the new tires are on I’ll have to take it to a different shop and get their opinion.

Oh btw, is it normal for the car to have bad vibration at 60+ mph? Is it due to the wear on the tires? I started developing that recently once the tires were worn out. And it’s not a off balance wheel type of vibration, since I don’t feel it in the steering wheel, but everywhere else on the car.

The toe is completely f'ed up I'd be surprised if it didn't shake like a dog shittin peach pits. Reputable shop, my ass. No decent shop would send a car out with those specs, I don't care what the techs drive. Take it to a good dealership, skip the indy shop for this unless you want to keep buying tires. It should be easy to figure out and fix.

What are you guys talking about?

.19* of toe-in per side is completely normal in the rear especially so in high whp rwd applications.

His tire wear looks normal to me. Center of the tire is down to the wear bars (2/32" tread left). It makes sense to me that the inside shoulder would be down to 0 tread if all he does is straight line pulls and highway driving withotu ever rotating the tires to the front. Camber means the tire is literally rolling around at all times on its inside edge. Toe just makes the tire wear happen FASTER. Seeing as how tire wear is pretty even across the entire tire, and happened over SEVERAL YEARS, I'd say this is normal.

These tires look exactly how all of mine do after coming off the rear. If you could've rotated them to the front half-way through their life you would've gotten more wear out of them and the insides wouldn't be so bad. Hence, why a square tire setup is so desirable in motorsports (ability to rotate tires) and why people pay to flip tires when they can't rotate them...
