Gamers: COD:MW 2011 > Battlefield 3?

I know a few of you are keen on games from the recent forza thread.
I am looking to pick up a new online shooter game, and just wondered what the thoughts are around Battlefield 3 vs the COD?
Will be playing on PS3, and am pretty casual gamer, but like a challenge.

Recommendations? Pick up Battlefield now or wait for COD?

I have just finished BF3 (PS3) which took me two and a half days about 12 hours gaming to complete. After all the hype, I was expecting great things, but to be honest in really didn't have anything to write home about. A Fella I work with also bought a copy and hasn't stopped moaning about it being 720p.

I've since traded my copy and bought Uncharted 3 which is awesome.

BF3 was mainly made around the online aspect of the game, not the single player, as a result it rocks on line and the single player is more of a stop gap. I have it on the 360, for which you actually have to install a 2gb HD pack other wise it looks like and old xbox game. It is brilliant online and think it caters for all, casual / serious gamers. Like anything can be frustrating when 12 year olds constantly kill you when your new to the game.
I'd say give it a go and if you don't like it trade it in for COD, Game will probably have good trade ins, or even better Gamestation will refund you your money if you don't like it if it's under a couple of days old.

I've had battlefield a week now and I'm no where near bored. Jumping online with your mates is amazing. The stand out feature of the game has to be sound and visuals, with the new gamer engine its like nothing I've seen.
Blowing up buildings, wall, anything. Environments that is totally interactive. Jumping into a tank, boat, helicopter or fighter jet is amazing... but... but Really depends what type of gamer you are ?

Battlefield is more for the slower gamer, playing tactical in a team with friends but saying that if you want a more fast pace option you can always play team death match and I've noticed its more cod like.

really upto you... could always buy BF3, play it then just trade it in next week if you aint liking it ?

In the 2 days I had it EA's server was down, so that ruled online gaming out. not that I'm into online gaming. I just think it a Piss take to charge £40 for an average game that last 2 days.

Like others have said. The single player for BF3 is not really what the game is about. Same will be true of the new MW.

I bought BF3 last Friday and couldn't go on line as I was at a friends house so we played and completed the single payer (it was a late one). If I had bought it purely for the single player I would probably feel a bit peeved that I could complete it that quickly.

The reason I got the game was because I loved BF Bad Company 2 online and the online for BF3 doesn't disappoint. Since playing the BF games MW just doesn't do it, it's far too limited in comparison and the games seem to favour the run around like a headless chicken shooting anything that moves techique rather than any kind of tactical cooperation. If I had one criticism of BF3 it would be that there isn't as much variety in the online levels in this version. Not really a problem though as expansion packs will be released.

I tend to wait until games for the PS3 drop in price. Just finished Bulletstorm, which I found to be a great comical shooter and am enjoying chipping away at Fallout: New Vegas, which is huge. Looking forward to Uncharted 3 and Batman Arkham City. Can't say I'm too bothered about MW3. I don't have as much time to dedicate to games as I used to, so happy to wait until the price drops then I may give it a go. Having been involved with online shooters on the PC in Quake 2 and 3 days and Unreal Tournament and Counter Strike, I can't be bothered with that either anymore. Definitely getting older!

I bought BF3 with 3 pairs of DKNY boxer shorts for £32

I've been very impressed with it, the sound is immense and the gameplay like a true battlefield game which is excellent on xbox live with mates.

COD is good fun but very run and gun which just tires on me.

I do this with single player games but I usually buy multiplayer games as soon as I can as I find it very difficult to get into them if everyone else is loaded up with armor, weapons, perks etc and I'm running round in my underpants with a pea shooter.

Just picked it up, and its pretty good so far, if a bit tricky to jump straight into multiplayer.

Yes it has some type of acceleration

I immediately went into options and turned the sensitivity down 2 possibly 3 notches from default

You can't do a full 180 but it tracks the running speed of enemies perfectly and has less movement when aiming and firing
