Can I send in an old chip to get it reprogrammed to 1.4? Is this still a free service?

Sure, once 1.4 is finalized you can do that.

It doesn't sound like Rev 8.3 is close to final as these last few revisions have brought (supposedly) dramatic improvements.

I'm sitting on my money until development matures. I like to read how things are developing, it is encouraging.

It seems that this round of JB3/Procede updates is about manual cars...it was about time...but the problem is, how many manuals will break with this enormous power/torque available right after shifting ? Maybe that delay acted somewhat like the clutch delay valve does...

How about a video of a 6mt so we can see what boost looks like between shifts??

Clutch will give out first but that is the price of performance.

Last beta I tested was 8.1 had to go back to stock to take it in for service. Can't wait to get the car back to try out 8.3. I know its mostly for manuals but all the betas are going in the right direction.

I can't wait for my chip burner to arrive so i can load in 8.3. Rev6 map 5 doesn't feel that smooth to me on my 6mt. Power is there but comes on pretty brutal. Its like once it kicks it kicks HARD and violent.

Attached is a datalog from a little testing tonight. This shows how quickly the throttle blade (blue line) is following the pedal input (purple line). What you can't see on this log, or any log unfortunately, is how much boost is being held through the shifts. But trust me its plenty, I was getting very sideways during shifts. Will need to rig up a camera and videotape the boost gauge for that one. (working on it)

Also keep in mind these values are all being taken off the ECU directly for an apples to apples comparison, vs. sampling one signal directly and the other via the ECU.

Really are you serious? The manual has the same 6MT as the M5/M6. Both weigh a lot more and have a ton more power. This tranny is very strong.

It scares me that every new revision is A LOT better than the previous one. Until few days ago everybody sweared by the "Rev 6". Is BMW going from Quantum Leap to Quantum Leap ? Or was it really bad until now ?

I didn't normally have the throttle blade on my parameter list so I don't have any, but if you want you can load up 1.3, do some logs, then load up 1.4 R8.3, and do some more, and feel/see the difference.

Mike, thx for the updates...

look all i am asking the guys at BMS, please don't go back to smoooooth tunes...damn stay with 1.4 and make it better.

i DON'T want smooth...i can get a procede for that...1.4 is simply amazing it is a true street and track racing tune, and of course for those who just want to cruise to the local shop or go on holiday...
