Did a Porsche club Autocross (pics and vid)
I did my first AX of the season last Sunday with the Maverick Region PCA at Texas Motor Speedway. I like this location, because the surface is relatively smooth and doesn't chew up my daily driver tires as bad as some of the others. The problem is, it's also very dusty, so you spend your morning runs skating around the place. I ran my dd setup with stock sport suspension and Hankook Ventus V12 tires on 18" style 189 wheels.
Here's a video of my fastest run. My time was 4th out of 11 in my class, 26th out of 67 overall. For the video, I used two GoPros, Harry's Lap Timer Pro on the iPhone 4 and built this gauge using DashWare. Watch in HD if you can... Very nice Cayman R. The silver e46 M3 (number 111) in the background set the fastest time of the day, as he normally does here in local events... I've always loved the Gulf paint jobs... Haven't seen many of these in person.. An unusual setup for AX, but still cool to look at. Notice it's LS3 powered! That's me in some good company Here we are in the staging area. Notice my front mounted GoPro - it's the only time my front plate mount gets used

I didn't watch the vid but I am guessing that was a very fast course if an e46 M3 posted the winning time.
Great pics thanks for sharing.

Thanks! All I can say is I've seen this guy run FTD on pretty much every type of course. He's an extremely good driver with a very well sorted car.

Lol, thanks....that was actually my buddy laughing who was riding shotgun. Autocrossing on street tires will teach you good car control very quickly!

Nice video, the event looks super fun! I want to try auto crossing once there's one around my area

thx all...I'd recommend AX to everyone. It's a fun, safe way to learn how to drive your car. Look up your local chapter BMW CCA autocross schedule and do an event. As fun as that save was, it's actually a big waste of time in AX. I took that corner much cleaner in a following run and shaved almost a full second off my time. Unfortunately, I hit a cone and got a 1 second penalty added, so this ended up being my fastest clean run.
