Installing subwoofer and amp help?

I have a 2007 e90 328xi sedan. It has the hifi system and the CCC Idrive. How would I hook the amp up. Someone told me to buy a line out converter and tap into the rear speakers. Should I do that, and if so how would I. I'm just having trouble getting an RCA connection to the amp and finding a remote wire.

subwoofers are not the solutions for a weak system
fixing the weak system is.

You can certainly tap into the OEM amp output wires, but not the rear ones as they carry no bass signals. The wires for the underseat "subs" is what you want to tap. Make sure you get a high-quality LOC as the signal from the OEM amp is very strong. This is not the most elegant solution but it works, assuming you have no problems messing with the OEM wiring. People who are still under warranty shy away from doing that since BMW would probably refuse to fix anything if you just looked at the OEM wiring funny. But with your 07 you don't have to worry about that.

If you want to improve the mids and highs of the system as well then you should go another route. Look at the links Ctuna provided.

I'm fine with the system just looking for more bass. I already have the subwoofer and amp. It was a gift and it's exactly what I need to give me the extra bass.
